(Clearwisdom.net) Ye Xiaowen, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Director of the Religious Affairs Bureau, visited Taiwan as Director of the Association for Chinese Religious Culture Exchange. He participated in the closing ceremony of the Second World Buddhism Forum in Taipei on April 1. When reporters asked him about Falun Gong, he looked very uneasy, did not say a word, and pushed away the reporters' microphones. During dinner, a Falun Gong practitioner approached Ye and advised him to stop participating in the persecution of Falun Gong. The practitioner told him that if he does not stop, he will be sued wherever he goes in the world.
Falun Gong practitioners expose the persecution to delegates at the World Buddhism Forum and call on people to help stop the persecution in China
Ye Xiaowen, as the director of the State Administration of Religious Affairs (SARA) since 1999, played and continues to play a vital role in the persecution of Falun Gong. In collaboration with other high-ranking officials in SARA, the 610 Office, and the Chinese Communist Party, Ye designed, produced, and implemented a campaign of propaganda to demonize Falun Gong in order to help legitimize the persecution. Ye, along with other high-ranking officials in SARA and the 610 Office, has also used his office to coordinate and supervise the violent and brutal "transformation" of Falun Gong practitioners in provinces and cities across China, through brainwashing and other forms of torture. The stated role of SARA is to protect religious freedom, but under Ye's administration, it has become one of the most effective tools used by the regime to carry out the persecution against Falun Gong. With help from SARA, the CCP regime declared Falun Gong practitioners to be "enemies of the state" and then turned around and used that designation to justify the persecution.
On June 5, 2006, a US court issued a civil lawsuit subpoena to Director Ye Xiaowen and to Deputy Director Wang Zuoan of China's Religious Affairs Bureau when they visited the US. They are accused of inciting, instigating, conspiring, ordering, planning, and/or aiding and abetting torture, genocide, and other human rights abuses against Falun Gong.
Ye met with practitioners on several occasions. The practitioners advised him against participating in the persecution of Falun Gong, telling him that, otherwise, he will be sued wherever he goes in the world. Ye did not respond.
At 10:00 a.m. on April 1, more than four hundred Buddhist monks from across the strait visited the National Palace Museum. Ye intentionally avoid the crowd and entered the museum just ten minutes before the delegates left the museum. Falun Gong practitioners held banners worded "Falun Dafa Is Great" along the route that the delegates took when they left the museum. The Buddhist monks waved in greeting to the practitioners.
At 3:00 p.m., the World Buddhism Forum concluded. Ye swiftly got in his car and went to the dinner venue. Falun Gong practitioners, who were waiting in a light rain, called out, "Falun Dafa is great" and "Stop persecuting Falun Gong!"
During the dinner reception, reporters asked Ye Xiaowne about Falun Gong. Ye did not answer. A reporter asked, "Do you know you are being sued in the US?" Ye, looking very uncomfortable, pushed away the reporters' microphones.
