(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 17 cities or counties in 9 provinces. In this report, 30 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 18 practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Beijing] Ms. Zhao Huaichun Illegally Tried in the Haidian District Court
Ms. Zhao Huaichun was arrested shortly before the 2008 Olympics and sent to the Haidian Detention Center, where she went on a protest hunger strike. Haidian District Court officials put her on trial at 1:30 p.m. on July 7, 2009.
2. [Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province] Li Rushan Arrested
On June 30, 2009, Goumenzi Village Police Station Chief Fang Zhiguo led 30-40 agents from the Lingyuan Domestic Security Brigade to arrest Li Rushan. They fired tear gas into Mr. Li's home before eventually taking him away.
3. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Heping Police Agents Harass Qi Caimei and Tang Shuxiang
At 8:00 a.m. on July 3, 2009, five agents from the Heping Police Station knocked on the door of Qi Caimei's home, with camcorders in their hands. They intended to seize herand concoct evidence to further persecute her. Ms. Qi refused to open the door, and the police threatened to get a locksmith to force open the door. In order to avoid arrest, Ms. Qi jumped out of the window of her third-floor apartment. After that, the police indeed found a locksmith to open the door and went in to ransack Ms. Qi's home. That same day the police also went to harass Tang Shuxiang, who had left home in January 2009 to avoid arrest.

4. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Li Hong Suffers Persecution
After finishing her one-and-a-half-year term at Masanjia Women's Forced Labor Camp in Shenyang City, Ms. Li was not released as scheduled. Instead, camp officials extended her term and didn't release her until May 3, 2009. Ms. Li was subjected to various tortures while in captivity. She was once hung up by the handcuffs and brutally beaten. The labor camp guards also shocked her with electric batons, leaving numerous bruises on her face, arms and legs. On a different occasion they also grabbed her hair and slapped her in the face until her mouth bled profusely.
On February 20, 2009, a female guard kicked her in the chest, severely injuring her ribs. She was barely able to breathe. Even though she demanded many times to be taken to a hospital, the camp officials flatly refused.
5. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Eleven Dafa Practitioners Seized
Ms. Shi lives on Shuangxing Street in Beigangqiao. She held a small experience sharing conference at her home at 10:00 a.m. on July 4, 2009. All eleven practitioners present, including Ms. Shi, were arrested.
6. [Zhaodong, Heilongjiang Province] Yu Libo Put under Surveillance Immediately After Her Release
Ms. Yu Libo was released after eight years of detention in the Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison on June 26, 2009. The next day, however, local 610 Office head Yang Dali and his accomplices took turns going to her home to monitor her.
7. [Zhaodong, Heilongjiang Province] Gu Yunpeng and Li Guojun Sentenced
Harbin City Daowai District Court officials sentenced Mr. Gu Yunpent to five years and Mr. Li Guojun to three years' imprisonment. Both men are now being held at the newly established Intensive Training Team, which is used to persecute Dafa practitioners.
8. [Heilongjiang Province] Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison Officials Intensify the Persecution of Ms. Gao Guobo and Ms. Zhao Fengxia
Both Ms. Gao Guobo and Ms. Zhao Fengxia were former criminals who started practicing Dafa while in prison. Because of their practice of Falun Gong, however, they were made to do extensive hard labor.
9. [Pengshan, Sichuan Province] Peng Xueying Arrested and Her Home Ransacked
Four agents from the Pengshan National Security Brigade broke into Ms. Peng Xueying's home at 11:00 a.m. on June 25, 2009 and turned it upside down. They confiscated her computer, Dafa books and truth-clarification materials. They then took ms. Peng to her second home in Chengdu City and ransacked that home as well. She is being held in the Pengshan Detention Center.
Ms. Peng's husband has been bedridden for a long time and he has a caregiver looking after him. On the day of her arrest, the caregiver said a few words defending Ms. Peng and was also arrested. Currently, no one is looking after Ms. Peng's disabled husband.

10. [Wuqiang, Hebei Province] Li Huanyun Sentenced to Three Years
Wuqiang Court officials sentenced Ms. Li Huanyun to three years. Ms. Li was sent to the Shijiazhuang Women's Prison on June 15, 2009. Visitation requests from her family have been refused.
11. [Shandong Province] Recent Persecution of Dafa Practitioners in Jiaozhou City, Qingdao
Jiaozhou 610 Office personnel arrested Mr. Zhang Congjie from Guanzhuang Village, Zhangying Town, on June 19, 2009. He was released on July 4, 2009, following approximately two weeks of incarceration in the Jiaozhou Detention Center.
Ms. Gao Yumin, a practitioner in her 60's from Xujiazhazi Village, was arrested on June 25, 2009 while clarifying the facts at a street fair in Jiaolai Town. At present she is still in police custody. Her non-practitioner family was made to pay thousands of yuan to the police.
Police arrested Ms. Pang Fang, an employee of the Jiaozhou Broadcasting Bureau, on June 15, 2009. She managed to escape the next day and has since had to move from place to place to avoid further persecution.
Mr. Jiang Junqi and his wife Pang Manli from Dadian Village were arrested together on January 15, 2009. We now know that they were secretly sentenced to six years and four years of incarceration, respectively, and are to be sent to the Shandong Province Second Prison and Jinan Women's Prison in the near future.
12. [Jinan, Shandong Province] Jiao Tongxiu Arrested
Agents from Dongfeng Police Station seized Ms. Jiao Tongxiu, who is in her 50's, on July 4, 2009 as she distributed truth-clarification materials. She is being held in the Dongfeng Police Station.
13. [Dalian, Liaoning Province] Zhang Yuxiu's Home Ransacked
Ms. Zhang Yuxiu, 69, left home on July 4, 2009. The next morning her neighbors saw three policemen, two in uniform and one plainclothes, ransacking her home when no one was in at the time.
14. [Zhucheng, Shandong Province] Wang Jinxiu and Her Family Harassed
Five people from the Zhucheng 610 Office Domestic Security Brigade got Ms. Wang Jinxiu to open her door on March 25, 2009 by claiming to be realtors. The group of thugs then ransacked her home and took away two computers (a desktop and a laptop) that her family members use.
15. [Hefei, Anhui Province] Persecution of Zhao Huizhen
While clarifying the facts at Yaohai Park on May 30, 2009, Ms. Zhao Huizhen, 57, was reported to the police. Agents from the Qilitang Police Station took her to a detention center. Fifteen days later, Xinzhan police officials transferred her to the Hefei City Women's Forced Labor Camp to serve a one-year term.
16. [Dalian, Liaoning Province] Shi Ningyao's Whereabouts Unknown
Mr. Shi Ningyao is an employee of the Huaguan Mall in Dalian City's development zone. At around noon on July 4, 2009, the mall management asked him to come in for a meeting, where police took him away. He managed to escape the next morning while the guard was asleep. His whereabouts remain unknown. The police went to ransack his home the afternoon of his arrest and confiscated a computer.
Ms. Li, an unmarried practitioner who lived close to Qianshan Road, was arrested around July 3, 2009 and has not yet returned home as of July 5th.
17. [Jinan, Shandong Province] A Practitioner Surnamed Jiao Sent to the Liuchangshan Brainwashing Center on July 5, 2009
18. [Jidong County, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Xie Yunhuan Has Been Detained in the Mudanjiang Prison for over Eight Years
19. [Jintang County, Sichuang Province] Wang Zhenhe and Zhong Zhifang Sentenced
Mr. Wang Zhenhe and Ms. Zhong Zhifang are a married couple working in Huaikou Middle School. They went to the Hongyuan Area in Jianyang County in June 2008 to clarify the facts when agents from the Sanxing Police Station arrested them.
The couple were sentenced on January 23, 2009, with Mr. Wang to serve 3.5 years and Ms. Zhong to server 3 years. Mr. Wang is currently held in Ward Four at the Wumaping Prison in Leshan, while Ms. Zhong is being held in the Yangmahe Women's Prison in Jianyang.
20. [Binzhou, Shandong Province] Wang Zhimin and Wang Zhiwen Persecuted
Ms. Wang Zhimin and Ms. Wang Zhiwen are two sisters from Huimin County, Binzhou City. Zhang Gang from the Huimin Police Department led a group of policemen on May 14, 2009 and arrested them. Wang Zhimin was held in the Huimin County Detention Center while her younger sister Wang Zhiwen ended up in the Binzhou City Detention Center. Both sisters were interrogated and denied family visitation. The police called the family on June 12, 2009 and asked them to pick up Wang Zhimin. Wang Zhiwen, however, was sentenced to two and a half years of forced labor re-education and sent to the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp in Zibo City. She hasn't seen her mother and three-year-old child since her arrest.

21. [Shanxi Province] Zhang Yuelan and Wang Liying Detained
Ms. Zhang Yuelan, an employee of the Yongji Power Plant, was arrested on June 25, 2009 together with her sister Wang Liying. Both women are currently held in the Yanhu District Detention Center in Yuncheng.

23. [Shulan City, Jilin Province] Zhao Shuqing and Yu Haiwen's Family Members Persecuted
Mr. Zhao Shuqing and Ms. Yu Haiwen are a married couple from Shulan City. They left home at the end of 2006 to avoid further persecution. Ever since then, their family has been subjected to persecution. Yu Haiwen's mother, in her 60's, was sentenced to one year of forced labor because of her belief in Falun Dafa. Yu's father, a non-practitioner, was arrested twice and interrogated to reveal his daughter's whereabouts.
On July 2, 2009 the police again went to harass Mr. Zhao's brother. The police are also harassing his mother, who had a stroke and currently lives in a nursing home.
24. [Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province] Pan Feng Held in the Hangzhou City Detention Center
Puyan Police Station officials arrested Mr. Pan Feng the night of June 28 while he distributed truth-clarification materials. He was first sent to the Binjiang District Domestic Security Brigade. At present he is being kept in the Hangzhou City Detention Center.

26. [Dalian, Liaoning Province] Attorney Wang Yonghang and His Wife Arrested
Mr. Wang Yonhang and his practitioner wife were arrested at home the night of July 4, 2009.
