(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 23 cities or counties in 10 provinces. In this report, 37 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 32 practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Hubeir City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Situation of Some Practitioners Arrested
At around 9:00 p.m. on June 28, Mr. Wang Zhankun, a practitioner in Hailar District, Hubeir City, was arrested at his relatives' home. His relatives and a child were also arrested. The police also searched both his and his relatives' homes.
At around 3:00 a.m. on June 29, an elderly practitioner with the surname Jin was arrested at his or her home. At around 8:00 a.m. on June 29, Mr. Yu Guohua was arrested at his home.
2. [Chongqing] The Persecution of Several Practitioners in Shapingba District
On the afternoon of June 26, police officers in Shapingba District, Chongqing, took into custody several practitioners. Five of the practitioners have been released. Ms. Yuan Rong and three other practitioners remain in custody in an undisclosed location.
On June 28, two practitioners were turned in to the police while clarifying the truth" in the Chenjiawan area in the Shapingba District. They were arrested.
3. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Liu Di Arrested
At around 3:00 p.m. on June 28, 2009, officers from the Weixing Road Police Station took Ms. Liu Di into custody at her home in Changchun City. The police confiscated a computer, Falun Dafa books, and numerous personal belongings.
4. [Loudi City, Hunan Province] Mr. Liang Keming Arrested
At around 8:00 p.m. on June 25, Mr. Liang Keming, a taxi driver, told the persecution facts to a taxi passenger. Later, the passenger turned him in to the police. Officers from the Loudi City 610 Office took him into custody.
One late night in February 2001, the police broke into Mr. Liang's home. They took him to the Loudi City No. 2 Detention Center, where he was held for almost two years. He was later sentenced to seven years of forced labor. He was secretly taken to the Jin City Forced Labor Camp under the jurisdiction of Changde City, Hunan Province, to serve the term. He was not released till February 2008.

7. [Liaoning Province] Three Practitioners in Dalian City Arrested
Elderly practitioners with the surnames Yan and Xu in the Yaojia area and a young practitioner with the surname Liu in the Qianguan area in Dalian City were arrested by officers from the Gezhenbao Police Station. The three practitioners had been handing out brochures and persuading people to quit the Communist Party and its affiliated organizations. They are being held at the Jinnan Road Detention Center.

8. [Nanchang County, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Chen Xiuzhen Arrested
On the morning of June 20, Ms. Chen Xiuzhen, who lives in the No. 3 Branch Farm of the Wuxing Reclamation and Sowing Farm in Nanchang County, was turned in to the police while giving out brochures in Xinlian Township, Nanchang County. Officers from the Xinlian Township and Tangnan police stations took her into custody. She was held at the Nanchang County Detention Center. It has been reported that she has been transferred to the Hunan Province Women's Forced Labor Camp to serve a three-year forced labor term.
9. [Qingyuan County, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhang Sumei Taken to Labor Camp
On May 23, 2009, Ms. Zhang Sumei, who lives in Ximazhuang Village in Ranzhuang Town, Qingyuan County, was arrested while spray-painting statements clarifying the truth. She was taken to the Qingyuan County Detention Center and subsequently sentenced to forced labor. She is being held at the No. 2 Division of the Shijiazhuang Women's Forced Labor Camp in Hebei Province.
10. [Jining City, Shandong Province] Ms. Qiao Xingxia Arrested
Ms. Qiao Xingxia, 38, lives in Bapu Village, Nanyuan Town, Zhong District, Jinan City. She makes a living as a taxi driver. At around 2:00 p.m. on June 27, she was turned in to the police while talking about the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. The Jining police took her into custody and confiscated the taxi she drove. She was handed over to the Hongxingdong Road Police Station in the Zhong District. She was then transferred to Jining City Detention Center and then to the Jining City Administrative Detention Center.

11. [Jining City, Shandong Province] Ms. Gao Hong and Ms. Zhao Min Taken to Forced Labor Camp
Ms. Gao Hong used to work at the Jining Couch Factory. After losing her job, she operated her own apartment leasing agency. Ms. Zhao Min is an accountant at the Shandong Medicine Company Ltd. The two practitioners were arrested by the police at Ms. Zhao's home early May 2009. They were sitting in the lotus position doing the Falun Gong exercises when the police broke in. They have been taken to the Jinan Women's Forced Labor Camp.
12. [Kunming City, Yunnan Province] Additional Information on Ms. Zheng Shengling and Two Other Practitioners Taken into Police Custody
On February 13, 2009, Ms. Zheng Shengling, 66; her husband, Mr. Chen Xiasheng, 69; and a fellow practitioner ,Ms. Kou Qiaoyun, 49, were telling elementary school students about Falun Dafa near the Wenwu School in Boluo Village, Kunming City. Officers from the Panlong Police Department took them into custody. Mr. Chen was granted a medical parole the same day because of high blood pressure. The other two were detained at the Panlong District No. 1 Detention Center in Kunming City on criminal charges the same day. On March 17, Ms. Zheng and Ms. Kou were placed under arrest by the Panlong District Procuratorate. On June 8, the Kunming City Procuratorate started prosecution. The two practitioners remain at the Panlong District No. 1 Detention Center.
13. [Maoming City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Shi Xiuping Taken into Police Custody--Suspicious People Stake Out Her Home
Ms. Shi Xiuping did not return home after escorting her granddaughter to her parents' home around 7:00 p.m. on June 29. At around 10:00 p.m., a group of officers from the Fuhua Police Station broke into Ms. Shi's home. They confiscated a computer used by her son and her grandson, along with other personal belongings. Her family learned then that she had been arrested. Early in the morning on June 30, police officers again showed up at her home to harass. Suspicious people have been spotted staking out her home.

On the morning of June 25, 2009, Ms. Hong Fengqin was turned in to the police by a student who refused to listen to the facts about Falun Gong at Songcun Middle School. Dai Xuezhong, an officer from Songcun Police Station, forcibly took her to the police station and notified the Wendeng City Domestic Security Division. Domestic security officers took Ms. Hong to the Wendeng Detention Center. That afternoon, the police searched her home.
16. [Yushu City, Jilin Province] Mr. Liu Fengming and Two Other Practitioners Sent to Brainwashing Center
On the morning of June 29, Li Fenglin, head of the 610 Office, and two other police officers went to the Yushu City Land Tax Department. They arrested Mr. Liu Fengming, who was at work. The police then arrived at the Wenmingcun Elementary School in Sihe Town to arrest Mr. Liu Zhenying, who was teaching a class.
On June 30, members of the 610 Office took into custody Ms. Zhang Xiujuan, a teacher at the Yushu No. 4 Elementary School, while she was walking down the street. The three practitioners have been taken to a brainwashing facility in Changchun City, Jilin Province.

18. [Huaihua City, Hunan Province] Ms. Chen Chujun Brutally Beaten--Her Whereabouts Unknown
Ms. Chen Chujun in Huaihua City has suffered severe police brutality for appealing on behalf of Falun Gong seven times. On May 27, 2008, she was illegally arrested under the pretext of "safeguarding the Olympic Games." Huaihua City state security officers and members of the 610 Office took her to the Zhijiang County Detention Center in Huaihua City. The detention guards instigated inmates to brutally beat Ms. Chen, and blood gushed down her face. Ms. Chen's whereabouts are unknown.
19. [Urumqi City, Xinjiang Autonomous Region] Ms. Zou Changqing Remains in a Forced Labor Camp
Ms. Zou Changqing, in her 30s, was formerly a doctor of Chinese medicine at the Youhao Hospital in Urumqi City. In July 2008, she was "illegally sentenced" to 21 months of forced labor. She is being held at the Xinjiang Women's Forced Labor Camp. Because of her steadfast belief, her term was extended for three months. The labor camp officials did not allow her family to visit her.

20. [Sichuan Province] Ms. Bai Yun Arrested Four Times for Clarifying the Truth
Since July 20, 1999, Ms. Bai Yun has told the persecution facts to the public and has been arrested four times by the local police, the state security police, and the 610 Office in 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2005. She was held at detention centers, brainwashing centers, and the Nanmusi Women's Forced Labor Camp in Sichuan Province.
In order to force Ms. Bai to give up her belief, the guards lifted her off the ground, tied her in a bed, smeared slogans on her face defaming Falun Dafa, and hung a wooden board around her neck full of curse words about Falun Dafa. She was also deprived of sleep and denied the use of a restroom. She suffered a skin infection as a result of having to soil her pants. She was also forced to stand in a military posture for extended hours.
21. [Qing'an County, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Zhao Hong's Non-Practitioner Brother Mr. Zhao Sheng Arrested
On the morning of June 21, 2009, officers from the Internet Surveillance Division of the Qing'an County Police Department took into custody Mr. Zhao Hong, who was accessing the Internet in an Internet cafe. The officers and those from the Domestic Security Division took Mr. Zhao's cell phone, cash, and other personal belongings. They then searched his home. Without finding anything that could have given them the excuse for persecution, the officers took into custody Mr. Zhao Hong's non-practitioner older brother, Mr. Zhao Sheng. In order to force him to frame Mr. Zhao Hong, the police suspended him off the ground for 48 hours.
Mr. Zhao Hong managed to escape the following day. Mr. Zhao Sheng remains in police custody.

22. [Cangzhou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Dai Jinzhi Held at City Detention Center after Being Arrested While Telling Others about the Persecution on July 1

Mr. Zhu Ming, Ms. Zuo Qixiang, and Ms. Liu Li from Hefei City were arrested by officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Guichi Police Department in Chizhou City. The women had been telling others about the persecution in Chizhou City on April 18, 2009. They have remained in custody in Chizhou City Detention Center.

24. [Dandong City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Xiangju Faces Unlawful Trial
It has been recently reported that the Yuanbao District Court in Dandong City is to unlawfully place Ms. Wang Xiangju on trial on August 7, 2009.
On March 31, 2009, officers from the Jinshan Police Station in the Hamatang area took Ms. Wang into custody. Her family has hired an attorney to make a defense. Zheng Xiangyang, deputy director of the Jinshan Police Station; Li Xiaomei; officers at the Investigation Section of the Yuanbao District Police Department; and prosecutors at the Yuanbao District Procuratorate tried to impede the defense by not providing the situation of the case.
Ms. Wang is not in good health. Her family also suggested parole for her. The same group of police and Procuratorate officials found various excuses to deny the family's request.
25. [Huangshi City, Hubei Province] Ms. Xiong Fenglian Sentenced to Three Years in Prison
On June 22, 2009, Ms. Xiong Fenglian was unlawfully sentenced to three years in prison by the Xisaishan District Court in Huangshi City. She remains in custody at the Huangshi City No. 1 Detention Center. Her family has been denied the right to visit her.
26. [Chengzhou City, Hunan Province] Mr. Guo Minggao Sent to Jin City Prison
Mr. Guo Minggao, 56, is a farmer in Xiadajiang Group, Jiaoyuan Village, Datang Township, Guidong County, Chengzhou City. On March 11, a dozen police officers took orders from the Guidong County 610 Office and arrested Mr. Guo. On the afternoon of April 16, the police searched his home for the third time. The officers confiscated over 1,000 yuan in cash, over a half-dozen reception devices for satellite TV, and Falun Dafa books. Mr. Guo was held at the Guidong Detention Center for several months before he was secretly sentenced to three years in prison. He has been taken to the No. 330 Forced Labor Camp in Jin City. The labor camp denied him admission. It was recently reported that he was sent back to the local detention center before members of the Guidong County 610 Office took him to the Jin City Prison.
On May 16, 2006, the police broke into his home. They confiscated a computer, a printer, a photocopier, a portrait of the founder of Falun Gong, and Falun Dafa materials, the total value of which was over 9,000 yuan. In addition, the police also took over 1,000 yuan in cash and around 100 pounds of wheat. Mr. Guo was held at the Guidong County Police Station for ten days.
At around 9:00 a.m. on October 15, 2007, the deputy commissioner of the Datang Township and local police officers again broke into Mr. Guo's home. They confiscated television components, a computer, a printer, a DVD burners, Falun Dafa books, and materials, worth in total over 10,000 yuan.
27. [Hubei Province] Guards and Inmates at Shayang Forced Labor Camp Viciously Beat Mr. Ke Changyan
Mr. Ke Changyan from the Daye area in Hubei Province is being held at the Shayang Forced Labor Camp in Hubei Province. At around 2:00 p.m. one afternoon in mid-April 2009, while he was taking a break in the yard, the head inmate in his cell knocked him down. He then dragged him to the gate in front of everyone. Ke Bingrong, a labor camp guard, ordered four inmates assigned to watch him to drag him into the office outside the gate. The guard slapped Mr. Ke Changyan repeatedly. The head inmate stuffed his mouth with a towel. Another inmate kneed him in his lower back. Several people beat him.
28. [Yushu City, Jilin Province] Mr. Liu Fengming and Two Other Practitioners Arrested
On the morning of June 29, Li Fenglin and other officers from the Yushu City 610 Office took Mr. Liu Fengming from work at the Land Tax Department to a brainwashing center. The following day, the police took Ms. Zhang Shujuan at the No. 4 Elementary School and Ms. Zhang Zhenying at the Sihe Town Elementary School to Changchun City, Jilin Province.

29. [Changtu County, Liaoning Province] Mr. Zhao Shoujin and His Wife Held in Custody
On August 15, 2007, Guo Xiaofeng from the county domestic security division and other officers searched Mr. Zhao Shoujin's home in Shibajiazi Township in Changtu County. The police confiscated Falun Gong books and materials. On August 17, Liu Jianxin, head of the Domestic Security Division, led officers to Mr. Zhao's home again. They coerced him and his wife to pay 20,000 yuan, or at least 10,000 yuan, for settlement. Under constant police harassment, Mr. Zhao, 61, and his wife were forced to leave town.
On the evening of November 30, 2008, Mr. Zhao and his wife were arrested in Benxi City, Liaoning Province. Liu Jianxin, the domestic security division head, took the couple back to the Changtu Detention Center. Mr. Zhao developed symptoms of illness. He was taken to the Kaiyuan City Psychiatric Hospital (also called the Liaoning Province No. 3 People's Hospital). His wife remains in custody at the detention center. Liu Jianxin is working on prosecuting Mr. Zhao.

30. [Yuxi County, Yunnan Province] Ms. Deng Zhixu Taken into Police Custody
On the morning of June 24, 2009, Ms. Deng Zhixu, who had been forced to leave town two years ago, was arrested at the East Kunming Railroad Station by Li Hong and other officers from the Guandu District Police Department in Kunming City. Two other practitioners were arrested at the same time. The three practitioners are being held at the Guandu District Detention Center, where the police conducted coercive interrogations.
On June 26, Ms. Deng was taken to Jiulongchi Detention Center by He Xiaopei, an officer from Hongta District, Yuxi City. She refused to sign detention papers and went on a hunger strike. She has become emaciated, and appears pale and unhealthy.
31. [Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Ding Jie Arrested
At around 10:30 a.m. on June 30, the Suburban Court in Jiamusi City scheduled a trial for Mr. Huang Weizhong in the Jiamusi Detention Center. Ms. Ding Jie was on her way to the detention center to send forth righteous thoughts in support of Mr. Huang. Officers from the Suburban Court and the Yanjiang Police Station intercepted her. Two uniformed and one plainclothes police officers searched her bag. The three officers then pushed her into a van parked nearby. In the van, one officer held his arm around Ms. Ding's neck to prevent her from getting away. Two hours later, the police searched her home and confiscated a computer and other personal belongings. They took her husband to the Yanjiang Police Station for interrogation. Her husband was later released. Ms. Ding is being held at the Jiamusi Detention Center.
32. [Chongqing] Ms. Yin Yuanzhen Returns Home
On June 3, Ms. Yin Yuanzhen was on her way back to Tongnan County, Chongqing, after visiting her 86-year-old mother in her hometown near Yuxi Town. The police handcuffed her while she was on a bus in the Yuxi Town Bus Station. She was taken to the office of the Domestic Security Division on the fifth floor of the Tongnan County Police Department. The police placed her under a 15-day detention without any reason. Ms. Yin has returned home.

34. [Pingdu City, Shandong Province] Mr. Wan Jiehua Arrested
On the morning of July 1, 2009, Yu Tao, director of the Wanjia Town Police Station, and officers in Pingdu City took into custody Mr. Wan Jiehua, who lives in Qiansunjia Village, Wanjia Town. Mr. Wan is being held at the detention center affiliated with the Pingdu City Police Department.
35. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Practitioners Held and Brutalized in Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp
On the morning of June 28, 2008, Ms. Ha Jingbo and Ms. Jiang Ruoling, who teaches at the Dongfeng County No. 4 High School in Jilin Province, were arrested while distributing brochures in the Dayang area. They were secretly sentenced to a year of forced labor and sent to the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City. Their terms have ended, but the labor camp officials have refused to release the two practitioners on the grounds that they did not give up their belief.
At 10:00 a.m. on June 15, 2009, Hou Zhihong, a guard in the No. 7 Division of the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp, struck with a charged electric baton practitioners Ms. Yuan Xiuxia, Ms. Pan Yali, Ms. Xu Hui, Ms. Ha Jingbo, and Ms. Liang Hongxia.
Four elderly practitioners have been forced to engage in hard labor for extended periods of time. They are: Ms. Meng Yan, 61; Ms. Li Menglan, 65; Ms. Chi Yingsu, 63; and Ms. Ni Xiulan, 61.
Ms. Zhang Xu was scheduled to be released on June 25, 2009. She refused to fill out a forced labor review form, and as a result, her term was extended for twenty days.
36. [Mengyin County, Shandong Province] Mr. Wang Jinming Arrested--Police Extort Money from His Family
On February 17, 2009, a dozen officers from the Duozhuang Town Police Station in Mengyin County broke into Mr. Wang Jinming's home in Beiduozhuang Village. The officer took Mr. Wang, 66, to the police station on the grounds that there was a calendar on the wall with truth-clarification content. They police demanded that his family hand over 10,000 yuan, and threatened to send Mr. Wang to a labor camp if payment was not made.
37. [Hengyang City, Hunan Province] Mr. Zou Xiangbao and Other Practitioners Arrested by Railroad Police
On June 22, the Hengyang railroad police broke into Mr. Zou Xiangbao's home to take him into custody. Mr. Zou has retired from the railroad system. On the afternoon of June 26, the railroad police, led by local residential committee officials, broke into the home of Mr. Zou Qinghua and his wife, Ms. Long Yiping. They confiscated a computer, a printer, 2,000 yuan cash, and truth-clarification brochures. The police took the couple to the Railroad Detention Center.
