- (Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Chen Jingyu is a Falun Gong practitioner from Changchun City, Jilin Province. She suffered gross mistreatment in the local police station, detention center and labor camp. She details her plight, as follows.
- Arrested and Beaten at the hands of Shuguanglu Police Station Agents
Wang Yongbiao and Qin Dayong, two officers from Shuguanglu Police Station in the Nanguang District, Changchun City, captured me at 9:00 a.m. on April 23, 2008, when I was running errands in the Ouya Mall. Shortly after they took me to the police station, several additional policemen arrived. One of them asked for my name. When I refused to tell him, he hit me hard on the head several times. I immediately felt very dizzy and soon began to twitch. They panicked and rushed me to a hospital. The doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong, though.
That night the policemen transferred me and several other practitioners to the Changchun Third Detention Center whose officials refused to accept us because of our poor health. The officers had to bring us back to the police station. Several policemen handcuffed me behind my back and pulled my hands over my head. They then pressed my arms on a table, causing excruciating pain. I could barely breathe. I only got to know the names of two of them: Zhang Wei and Chen Zhixin. They pressed my fingerprints under force onto a document and grabbed my hair, to take my picture.
Injected with Unknown Substances while at the Detention Center
The next day the police station chief Zhang Xueqing and his accomplices took the several of us to the detention center again, where he coerced the officials into accepting us. During my month-long stay at the center I had seizures on two occasions. Each time the detention center doctor injected me with unknown substances against my will. I felt drowsy and dozed off afterwards. When I awoke, a practitioner in the same cell told me I had slept for a whole day.
Conditions were extremely harsh at the detention center. A practitioner in the next cell went on a hunger strike, and the guards force-fed her. None of the detainees were permitted to step out of their tightly sealed cells. We couldn't see daylight all day long. One month later I was subjected to one year of forced labor. The forced labor paper indicated that I remained quiet during questioning and refused to sign the document.
Forced Fingerprinting
I was extremely weak when being sent to the labor camp. I could barely stand by myself and had great difficulty breathing. Intimidated by police chief Zhang Xueqing, however, the labor camp took me in anyway. The next day, as soon as the guards arrived for work, they asked a few people to carry me to their office where several of them attempted to obtain my fingerprints. I clenched my fists tightly, but they pried them open eventually and got my fingerprints. Since I couldn't stand, they laid me down on the concrete floor. Jin Lihua said later on she was the one that me to me finger printed, but I knew guard Sun Jia and division head Shen Minglian also participated.
Resisting Brainwashing
I was detained in Division Three. As soon as I arrived, the guards attempted to "reform" me. I knew deep in my heart that there was nothing wrong for me to practice Falun Gong, so I firmly refused to listen to them. They then found several "helpers" who were sent in by Jilin Province 610 Office agents. They forced me to watch videos slandering Falun Gong. One "helper" lived in the labor camp so she could talk to me day and night, trying to get me to practice other beliefs. These guards and "helpers" ordered practitioners to write "five statements". Everything they used were deceptions and intimidations, which they didn't dare to reveal to the public.
When I had an upset stomach, guard Huo Yan took me to the clinic for an injection. She refused to tell me what medicine I was given.
Slave Labor and Abuse
The glue used for slave labor projects was harmful; sometimes I couldn't even keep my eyes open. We had to ask for permission for everything, including restroom use. The guards separated determined practitioners from those who gave in under pressure, for fear that the latter may resume cultivation after talking to the former. If after one month a practitioner still refused to break away from Falun Gong, she would be made to do even more intensive hard labor. Anyone who failed to finish her quota had to stay up to get the work done. When we felt exhausted and wanted to take a break, the guards yelled at us madly.
The daily food was always the same: cabbage, potato, Chinese radish and pickled vegetables. Only during holidays or when there were inspectors from higher-ups would we have better food. The rules posted on the dining hall wall indicated the detainees had 30 minutes to finish each meal, but in reality we were only given a few minutes to gobble down our food. Once time was up, we had to leave, no matter whether or not we had finished eating.
Dang Baofen is a practitioner from Shulan City, Jilin Province who couldn't do hard labor because of poor vision. The guards then put her in a confinement cell where they forced her to watch slandering videos. Deputy division head Jiang Lijun even beat her.
Zou Xia was a guard in Division Three. One practitioner detained in her team was Rong Chunling who had high blood pressure. Whenever her blood pressure shot up, the captors forced her to take injections and take medicine; they only made her condition worse. As a result she often fainted. Even so, the division head and guards still ordered her to do hard labor. She filed an application for medical parole but the labor camp head refused to approve it, despite her meeting the parole requirements. She is still at the labor camp.
Zang Li was a guard in Division Three. She beat practitioners when they refused to answer questions on an exam designed to slander Falun Gong. Ju Mingxia detailed how Zang persecuted practitioners in writing, and the captors extended her term by one month.
Supplemental Information
When Qin Dayong and Wang Yongbiao came to arrest me, they also confiscated my bank deposit book and other personal belongings. They didn't return the deposit book until my family requested the return of it numerous times. My other personal belongings were not returned until four months after my arrest.
After the Olympics were over, several policemen came to the labor camp and ordered the several of us who were arrested together to file certain paperwork. It must be that they had not followed any legal procedures during the arrest and sentencing; otherwise, why would they need additional paperwork from us? I asked which agency they were from; they didn't dare to tell us. I firmly refused to cooperate with them.
