(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Guo Wenyan, in her late fifties, is a Falun Gong practitioner from Shijiazhuang City. After she was arrested and detained at the Hebei Province Women's Forced Labor Camp, she was forced to stand still for fifteen days and deprived of sleep. After fainting, she fell and broke her left thigh and shinbone, with severe dislocation. As a result, she is not able to look after herself.
Ms. Guo Wenyan was arrested on June 30, 2008 by officials from the Qingyuan Street Police Station and was subsequently sent to the Hebei Women's Forced Labor Camp.
In March 2009, Ms. Guo Wenyan was subjected to brainwashing and was forced to stand still by Jiang Xia, Liu Yufen and Gu Hongye. Because Ms. Guo Wenyan insisted on practicing Falun Gong, Liu Ziwei, Gu Hongye, Shi Jiangxia and Chuai Wei, guards from the First Team, forced her to stand still for fifteen days straight, during which she was deprived of sleep, forbidden to sit and allowed only twice a day to go to the restroom. Moreover, Jiang Xia whipped Ms. Guo in the head, and Ms. Guo was beaten to the point of collapsing in bed. During the day, she was put into a solitary confinement cell and forced to stand still. Liu Zongzhen often went to the solitary confinement cell to beat her. Afterwards, she forced Ms. Guo to stand for an entire night in the freezing-cold washing room and ordered the criminals on duty to watch her. Due to the extended time of standing still, Ms. Guo had difficulty moving her feet, which were red and swollen. Ms. Guo lost consciousness many times after being subjected to such long-term sleep deprivation.
On March 29, 2009, guard Wang Weiwei forced Ms. Guo to do heavy labor due to her insistence on practicing Falun Gong. Ms. Guo's feet were already in a very bad state at that point. On April 2, Ms. Guo Wenyan fainted, fell, and broke her left leg. Even then, the guards continued to persecute her. Ms. Guo was forced to do heavy labor work, even with her broken leg. She couldn't move her left leg and had tremendous difficulty walking. When she went to the restroom, she had to use a desk, bend her lower back to push the desk a little, move her right leg one step, and then use her hand to move the disabled left leg a step forward. This was the only way she can move about.
Upon seeing this, Jiang Xia, the camp guard, didn't allow Ms. Guo Wenyan to use a desk and didn't allow others to assist her. She had to lean against the wall to drag herself towards the restroom. Although the way to the rest room was only ten meters, Ms. Guo had to spend a long time to get there, sweating profusely with exhaustion every time she returned from the restroom. When others fell asleep at night, she couldn't lie down from the severe pain emanating from her left leg. She was not sent to the hospital until April 14, thirteen days after. Her relatives got to know her situation and demanded her release. Under her relatives' request, the labor camp had to allow Ms. Guo to go out to seek medical attention. Then her relatives took her to the hospital to take X-rays and found that her left thighbone and shinbone were fractured and dislocated.
More than four months later, Ms. Guo Wenyan still cannot leave her bed to walk anywhere. Due to the damage that was done on her leg, her feet's capillaries are injured, and her blood circulation is blocked. Her instep has turned black and her feet are always cold. Whenever her feet are in a lowered position, they will turn blueish purple and experience agonizing pain.
