(Clearwisdom.net) At around 3:00 p.m. on July 21, 2009, Mr. Peng Changhua, Ms. Liu Guoxiu and another Falun Gong practitioner from Xindu District, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province went to visit Mr. Fan, who was recuperating from an illness at home. A dozen policemen from the Xindu District 610 Office, the local National Security Team and the Chengxi Police Station broke into Mr. Fan's home and illegally arrested everyone. They also ransacked Mr. Fan's home. The policemen then went to Mr. Peng's home, arrested his wife, Ms. Fan Huixia, and ransacked their home. Several policemen stayed at Mr. Fan's home, and at around 4:00 p.m. they arrested He Qun and another practitioner.
Below is an account of what happened.
Mr. Fan, 74, is a retired worker who lives on Zhuangyuan Street in Xindu District. At around midnight one night in June, he experienced sudden, piercing pain in his chest on the left side. The next day, his chest felt tight and it was difficult for him to cough. He suffered these symptoms on and off during the following weeks. At night he had difficulty sleeping. His feet also swelled, making it hard for him to walk. His family decided to take him to the local hospital for treatment.
The following day at the hospital, his condition drastically worsened and he had to be transferred to the intensive care unit for emergency treatment. He was diagnosed with bilateral pneumonia, acute left-sided heart failure, hypertension and his left lung was filled with liquid. They had to extract 1,500 milliliters of liquid from his chest cavity. The staff notified Mr. Fan's family that he was on the verge of death and no medical treatment would help his condition.
At around midnight of the fifth day, and after spending over ten thousand yuan, Mr. Fan insisted on going home. His decision surprised his family and the hospital staff. He was informed that he would bear all consequences if he insisted on checking himself out of the hospital.
At home, Mr. Fan was bedridden and lost control of his bladder and bowel movements. As he couldn't eat, he had not used the toilet for over 20 days. He had to use all his strength to just say a few words. His family and friends were extremely worried and didn't know how to help him. Therefore, they went to ask their neighbors, colleagues, and friends for help.
After Mr. Fan's friends learned of his situation, many went to visit him at home. Some of them were practitioners who personally experienced the miraculous effect of practicing Falun Gong. They suggested Mr. Fan read the book Zhuan Falun. With his consent, the practitioners read the book to him. After four straight days of reading to him, a miracle occurred. Mr. Fan could eat something and use the restroom by himself. He could even walk to the second floor by himself. His speech also returned to normal.
Mr. Fan's health recovered without any medical intervention. His amazing recovery allowed his family, friends and neighbors to witness the miraculousness of Falun Gong. Unfortunately, while everyone was celebrating Mr. Fan's recovery, the authorities started arresting practitioners who introduced Falun Gong to him.
After the arrests, many practitioners' families went to the police station and boldly questioned the police about the arrests and what law their family members violated. The police have not produced any evidence or justification for the arrests.
On the morning of August 3, 2009, family members of practitioner He Qun went to the local 610 Office to try to reason with officials such as Zhou Jiang, Liu Xingyong and others about He Qun's arrest. However, the officials refused to see them. Moreover, they secretly ordered the local national security team to photograph, videotape, and monitor the family members. They also arrested Mr. Feng Renjun, who was standing in front of the government building at the time.
