(Clearwisdom.net) The mayor of Seminole, Jimmy Johnson, saw Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Mahaffey Theater at the Progress Energy Center on Friday evening and had nothing but praise for the New York-based company, seeing the show for the first time.
"The show was absolutely fabulous, it was wonderful," said the mayor. "It's probably the best show that I've ever seen. I would come back and see it again tomorrow."
Mayor Johnson thanked the presenters for bringing Shen Yun to the St. Petersburg area
He thanked the presenters for bringing Shen Yun to the St. Petersburg area and said that he loved having Shen Yun perform here. "And please come back anytime. What a great, great show!"
He was deeply moved by the Shen Yun performers. "It was absolutely fabulous to see how well they can move, how coordinated they were, and how colorful it is. And the energy level--the energy level was so high. I don't know how you can get any higher than that. What a great performance," he said.
Mayor Johnson hoped that one day China would be able to rekindle its unique heritage and return to what it once was. "It would be wonderful if that happened and we would certainly hope that it happens, and we wish everyone well."
He commented on the importance of tradition and the benefits it brings, saying: "The tradition is that our people learn about the Chinese culture and that is really, really important, especially the young people, and it was nice to see so many young people here tonight, and we think the exchange of the cultures is wonderful and we hope that it does continue."
The mayor would love to have Shen Yun perform in his city, saying: "I would like ... we're a small city of about 20,000 people, but they would come and see this in a minute."
On hearing that Shen Yun had to cancel its seven sold-out shows in Hong Kong due to Hong Kong authorities' last-minute denial of entry visas to several of Shen Yun's key production staff, Mayor Johnson said: "Hopefully they will reconsider and look at the intrinsic values that is in this act. So my hope is that they will come through and let the visas come through also.
"I think it's unfortunate that they can't share the beauty of this show, and I would once again plead with the Chinese Government [to] grant the visas, let the people enjoy ... this wonderful show."
