(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Li Xianzhong, who is in his seventies, lives in Team 13 of Beixing Farm, Qitaihe City, Heilongjiang Province. His wife died years ago, but he has a very devoted son named Li Xianzhong, daughter-in-law, and a granddaughter in high school.
On May 22, 2008, in collaboration with labor group chairman Yang Jun, political director Zhang Chunhua from Beixing Farm Police Station, deputy director Liu Liying, along with police officers Li Huailai, Sun Dongsheng, and Gao Baomin, arrested Mr. Li's son Li Xianzhong, who was helping his sister-in-law transplant rice seedlings. Together with Fang Zhenhai, the team leader of Team 13, they later broke into Mr. Li's home and confiscated his satellite dish, claiming that using it was illegal. When his cousin Chen Jian heard that Li Xianzhong was arrested, he asked his friends to help rescue Li Xianzhong. However, Chen Jian was also arrested. Both Li Xianzhong and his cousin were sentenced to four years of imprisonment because they practiced Falun Gong. At this time they are being detained in Lianjiangkou Prison in Jiamusi City.
After his sister-in-law learned that Mr. Li Xianzhong had been arrested, her already poor health condition became even worse. She died seven days later.
Mr. Li's mother-in-law was extremely sad about her daughter's death and Li's arrest, and as a result her vision became blurred due to her extreme anxiety and sadness. Even with this crushing emotional blow, Mr. Li's in-laws still had to harvest his crops. At noon on October 23, 2008, they finally finished with the harvest. By this time, his mother-in-law could not see at all. After hearing that her son-in-law had been sentenced to four years of imprisonment, she became very sick. Her health continually worsened. On July 19 2009, she suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and died on August 15.
After Mr. Li's only child Li Xianzhong was arrested, police officer Zhao Yingguang and other officers from the Beixing Farm Police Station falsified evidence and threatened and forced Mr. Li to sign the falsified statement. Due to extreme sadness and anger, Mr. Li's health progressively worsened. He was previously very healthy, but he had chest pain and trouble breathing. Under the great mental pressure and torture, he died in November 2009. He was not even allowed to see his son in his last hours.
When Li Xianzhong was imprisoned, all the burdens of the family shifted to his wife. Not only did she have to care for her mother, her father-in-law, and her daughter, she also had to manage the farm. The death of her sister, mother, and father-in-law dealt her a heavy blow.
