(Clearwisdom.net) On the morning of September 20, 2010, dentist Zhang Guangcai (a resident of Shahe City, Hebei Province) was on his way to work. He was seized and taken away by a plainclothes officer from the Domestic Security Team of Shahe City.
After his son heard this news, he quickly went to the city police department to look for his father. He saw his father's motorbike inside the police department courtyard. He demanded to know why his father had been arrested and why family members were not informed about the arrest. Hou Shouhong (deputy head of the Domestic Security Team) said, "Zhang Guangcai practices Falun Gong, so we need not inform his family members about the arrest."
On September 27, Mr. Zhang Guangcai's family members received a letter from the Shahe City Police Department, stating that he had been sentenced to one year and nine months of forced labor. The letter was dated September 21, 2010, which was the day after his arrest. Since then his family members have received more details from the law and regulation section of the Xingtai City Police Department that oversees forced labor sentencing. Personnel from the department said that if Mr. Zhang's family members paid 10,000 yuan, they could intervene and reduce his term to one year. His family ignored them.
On September 30, his wife Ms. Zhang Xingfang and other family members went to the Domestic Security Team and requested Mr. Zhang's unconditional release. Wang Jianjun, head of the Domestic Security Team, said, "We arrest any Falun Gong practitioner we want. If you have the ability, you can engage a lawyer to sue us."
