(Clearwisdom.net) On September 20, 2010, as soon as Yang Song, the deputy Party secretary of Hubei Province and Wuhan Municipal Party Committee secretary, stepped off the plane in Taiwan, he was handed a complaint letter from Falun Gong practitioners. The Taiwan Falun Dafa Association indicated that Yang Song is the leader of the Hubei Province 610 Office, the command center responsible for the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. The Taiwan Falun Dafa Association has filed a lawsuit with the Taiwan High Prosecutors Office against Yang Song for "the crime of genocide" and the violation of the "Convention of Civil Rights," and requested an immediate investigation. During Yang Song's visit in Taiwan, Falun Gong practitioners followed him everywhere and exposed the crimes he has committed against practitioners.

Song Yang is the third chief of the Hubei Province 610 Office, having held the position since July 2006. In July 2006, he was appointed deputy Party secretary of Hubei Province. Previously, he was the deputy Party secretary of Tibet Autonomous Region, Politics and Law Committee secretary, and Public Security Office chief. In March 2008, he was appointed deputy secretary of Hubei Province and Wuhan Municipal Committee. Since becoming the leader of Hubei Province 610 Office, he has held numerous secret meetings, directing the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in Hubei. In addition, he led the persecution of practitioners in Hubei during the Beijing Olympics in 2008, the 60th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in 2009, the Shanghai World Expo in 2010, and the Asian Games in Guangzhou Province.

According to incomplete statistics compiled by the Minghui/Clearwisdom website, 3,411 Falun Gong practitioners have died so far as a result of the persecution. The persecution in Hubei has been very serious, with at least 166 practitioners dead, 55 in Wuhan City alone.

Some of the crimes Yang Song has committed against Falun Gong practitioners during his tenure in Hubei Province are as follows:

Supervising and Leading the Hubei 610 Office to Persecute Falun Gong Practitioners

On November 9, 2006, Yang Song visited and directed the persecution at the Hubei Province Department of Justice (in charge of prisons and labor camps) and Hubei Province Women's Forced Labor Camps and prisons. According to a Minghui website (Chinese version of Clearwisdom) report on October 29, 2006, authorities at the Hubei Province 610 Office sent out a secret memo to the three major prisons (Hubei Shayangfanjiatai Prison, Hubei Qinduankou Prison, and Wuhan Women's Prison) "to not release Falun Gong practitioners who have completed their sentence but have not been "transformed," and to have the respective 610 Office personnel transfer them directly to a 'Legal Education Class.'" In reality, the classes attempt to "transform" the practitioners. For example, Jianghan District's "Legal Education Class" at the Erdaopeng Brainwashing Center in Wuhan City was set up by the provincial 610 Office.

Wuhan Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Junxia was an outstanding university graduate and an excellent employee at the Dijiao Branch of the Commercial Bank in Wuhan City. She was twice sent to forced labor camp. At the end of December 2006, authorities from the 610 Office in the Jiangan District, Wuhan City, arrested Ms. Li in Xiamen and sent her to the "Legal Education Class" in Chenjiaji, Wuhan. Because she refused to give up her belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, she was tortured by Li Yingjie and collaborator Gong Lianghan. They deprived her of sleep, forced her to stand for long periods of time, made her read materials defaming Falun Gong, and ordered her to write "thought reports" and repentance statements. They also provoked and insulted her, and shackled her arms and legs to the four corners of a bed for over ten days. They forced her to drink urine and used other vicious methods to destroy her mind and body. Consequently, Ms. Li Junxia became mentally disordered. On November 7, 2008, she fell from the building and died. To further slander Falun Gong, the CCP media broadcast claimed that "Ms. Li, in order to 'consummate,' jumped off the building and committed suicide."

According to incomplete statistics, in the four years since Yang Song took office, more than 3,000 Falun Gong practitioners in Hubei have been arrested and detained in brainwashing centers for "educational 'transformation'" by the authorities from the 610 Office and the Public Security and State Security departments. Nearly 100 practitioners have been sent to forced labor camps and sentenced. Many practitioners have been interrogated and brutally tortured, causing injuries, disabilities, and even deaths. For example, on September 28, 2009, the night before the 60th anniversary of the CCP, a 57-year-old practitioner, Ms. Zheng Yuling, from Chibi City, was arrested and sent to the Hubei Women's Forced Labor Camp. She was dead in less than a month.

Directing the "Anti-Cult Association" to Persecute Falun Gong Practitioners

On March 29, 2001, the "Anti-Cult Association" was established in Hubei to persecute religious and spiritual beliefs. The association followed the leadership of the 610 Office to expand the scientific community's manpower and material and financial resources to assist in the persecution of Falun Gong. They used its members' religious and scientific titles and know-how to "explain" the persecution of Falun Gong to the Chinese people and the international community. The association also provided and submitted ideas to the CCP and the 610 Office for ways to instigate hatred toward practitioners, and was directly involved in persecuting and "transforming" practitioners. Since its establishment, it has been collaborating with the 610 Office to carry out a series of brainwashing activities to defame Falun Gong, such as seminars, exhibitions, forums, and "knowledge contests," to spread propaganda designed to incite hatred and turn people against Falun Gong.

Officials from the Hubei 610 Office and the "Anti-Cult Association" visited provincial universities, research institutions, and psychiatric hospitals to recruit mental health doctors and psychiatric experts to participate in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. On June 26, 2008, the "Loving Care Association" of Wuhan City gathered a group of experts to carry out "anti-cult psychological information" counseling and activities at the city's women's forced labor camp. Liu Xiaolin, the executive director of the association and psychology expert of the Wuhan Psychiatric Hospital; Zhong Shuhua, the executive director of the association; and Shao Quanwu, the executive director of the association and the former president of Hubei Provincial Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, conducted "psychological counseling" on Falun Gong practitioners at the forced labor camp. Hubei Association Council member and Hubei University professor of psychology Yan Meifu collaborated with the "Legal Education Center of Hubei Province" (the provincial brainwashing center) to develop strategies to "transform" Falun Gong practitioners and published a "thesis" that slandered Falun Gong. Xu Bibo from the Hubei Institute of Education was invited by the 610 Office to publish a thesis against Falun Gong. Psychology expert Zhang Lijun from Yangtze University was invited several times by Jingzhou City 610 Office to help Falun Gong practitioners with "assistance and education."

Establishing Brainwashing Centers to Try to Force Practitioners to Give Up Their Belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance

The Central 610 Office has given its approval to the Hubei 610 Office for their experience in brainwashing practitioners at forced labor camps, prisons, and brainwashing centers. The persecution at the provincial brainwashing center is quite brutal. Since early February 2002, the brainwashing center has offered five to six sessions annually, and up to nine sessions in some years. Each session lasts about 40 days and holds about 20-30 Falun Gong practitioners. In 2008, the provincial brainwashing center was moved from Tangxunhu in the Jiangxia District to Mahucun in the Hongshan District. The newly built brainwashing center, located next to the Hubei Women's Forced Labor Camp, cost the taxpayers more that ten million yuan.

In addition to the infamous provincial brainwashing center, the following brainwashing centers were established after the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999: Chenjiaji Brainwashing Center in the Jiangan District, Wuhan City; Yangyuan Brainwashing Center in the Wuchang District; Erdaopeng Brainwashing Center in the Jianghan District; Etouwan Brainwashing Center in the Qiaokou District; and Taojialing Brainwashing Center in the Hanyang District. Since early 2010, Yang Song has directed all the provincial 610 Offices to reopen brainwashing centers, arrest practitioners, and force them to undergo brainwashing sessions.

Sending Falun Gong Practitioners to Psychiatric Hospitals and Injecting Them with Psychiatric Drugs

Besides persecuting practitioners in brainwashing centers, forced labor camps, and prisons, the Hubei 610 Office personnel, under the command of Yang Song, have sent healthy practitioners to psychiatric hospitals and given them psychiatric drugs in order to destroy them.

Sixty-nine-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Xiaolian from Chibi City, Hubei Province, was detained by the 610 Office numerous times since July 20, 1999. She suffered many types of torture, including "Five Horses Splitting the Body."(1) In April 2006, police officers from the Chibi Public Security Bureau picked her up and took her to the Psychiatric Department of Puqi Textile Plant Hospital. The staff brutally beat her, gave her injections of unknown drugs, force-fed her toxic drugs, gave her high-voltage electric shocks, and ordered mentally-ill men to sexually harass her. Doctor Zhang and his aids used high-voltage electric batons and needles on Ms. Liu for four hours. He force-fed her unknown drugs and gave her ten pounds of intravenous fluids over 24 hours. Consequently, her skin turned black and she was unconscious for two days. She was unable to speak after she regained consciousness. Because she refused to give up her belief in Falun Dafa, the 610 Office continued to torture Ms. Liu physically and mentally. She eventually passed away on the afternoon of October 26, 2008.

Under Yang Song's orders, the 610 Offices in Hubei Province have been and are still brutally persecuting Falun Gong practitioners.

According to the Minghui website's report, in the month of April 2009, during the "Two Congresses," Yang Song and Hu Xukun, the Law and Public Committee secretary and Public Security Bureau chief, ordered police to arrest over a hundred Falun Gong practitioners. In 2010, according to news from the Hubei Women's Forced Labor Camp, they received orders from the 610 Office to use any means necessary, including electric batons, force feeding with drugs, and hard labor, in order to "transform" practitioners. Ms. Zheng Yuling, 57, died in less than a month after being brutally tortured in the Hubei Women's Forced Labor Camp.
