(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Cao Guoxian from Duchang County, Jiangxi Province, was illegally arrested on March 21, 2010, and secretly sentenced to three years of imprisonment by the Duchang County Court on June 2, 2010. A few months later, the Nanchang City Intermediate Court reduced the sentence to two years.
Ms. Cao is currently detained at the Jiangxi Province Women's Prison, where she has been tortured for three months. The guards there have been trying to force her to give up her belief in Falun Gong, which she has refused to do.
The guards have paid criminal inmates to harass and monitor Ms. Cao around the clock. Ms. Cao has also been forced to do hard labor for up to 14 hours per day, including completing the workload assigned to the prisoners monitoring her. During late evening hours, she was also forced to read books that slandered the practice of Falun Gong.
Ms. Cao began practicing Falun Gong in March 1999 and benefited both physically and mentally from the practice. Since the Chinese Communist Party began its unlawful persecution of Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, she has been repeatedly harassed and threatened by local officials from Xiyuan Township, and the Xiyuan Township Police Station. As a result of the relentless persecution targeting her and her family, her husband was overwhelmed by the pressure and divorced her.
