(Clearwisdom.net) My brother was born in 1986 in Luzhai City, Guangxi Province. He is strong and loves various sports. He is also smart and has always been a top student. In order for him to be able to go to school, I had to drop out of school after middle school, and I have worked in Guangdong Province ever since to support him. After working a lot of overtime, my monthly income was about 2,000 yuan.
In 2008, my brother was admitted to a university in Shanghai. The whole family was so excited and we felt our good life was finally beginning. However, in April 2009, my mother called me and told me while crying on the phone that my brother had a high fever and was suspected of having swine flu. My father was so worried that he borrowed some money and went to Shanghai that night.
It turned out that my brother didn't have the swine flue, but something even worse. He was diagnosed with leukemia. Although his fever receded, the treatment for his illness would cost about 100,000 yuan monthly. We were advised that it would be very dangerous for my brother if he got a fever again.
We are a family of ordinary farmers and had to live a very simple life in order to afford my brother's tuition. To cover the recent medical treatment costs, we had to borrow money from relatives. The university launched a fund-raising event to help my brother pay the medical bills, but it was far from enough.
In late 2009, my brother's condition had temporarily stabilized, and he said that he wanted to go on a trip. When the family didn't agree, he ran away from home without telling us. I then quit my job and went back home to care for my mother, who was bedridden with worry. For more than six months, my brother called us once per month to report that he was OK, and then hang up right way. However, his voice sounded healthy on the phone, so we worried less.
My brother returned home this August and told us that he was cured. Although we didn't initially believe him, he really was telling the truth!
We didn't blame him for being away from home. One day I asked him why he ran away. He told me that when he was in the hospital, a doctor told him privately that practicing Falun Gong could help him recover from this incurable disease, but not to try it if he was not brave enough.
Because the Chinese Communist Party has been persecuting Falun Gong, my brother initially wanted to keep his practice private so as to not increase the risk of getting arrested. He went to Anhui Province with another Falun Gong practitioner. He practiced for six months, and felt healthier each day. When he subsequently had a check up in the hospital, the results indicated that he no longer had leukemia.
My mother had been staying in bed for long periods of time, but after learning Falun Gong from my brother, she was able to get up and can now work in the fields. Now I also do the exercises and feel energetic every day. Falun Gong is really amazing! Thank you Teacher Li for saving my whole family!
