(Clearwisdom.net) Xiao Wen's father is the political instructor at the local police department. Ever since the persecution of Falun Gong started in 1999, he believed the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) propaganda that defamed Falun Gong. His profession also added fuel to the fire, as he had to think and act in line with the CCP policies. Hatred toward Falun Gong practitioners was planted in his mind, and he had denounced Falun Gong.
Xiao Wen's aunt is a Falun Gong practitioner. In the winter of 1999, she went to Beijing to tell the government that Falun Gong is good, and that the policy of trying to eradicate it was wrong. She planned to talk about her own experiences, and the benefits she received from practicing Falun Gong. When she got there the Appeals Office in Beijing was surrounded by police officers and plainclothes officers. She was arrested, brought back to the local detention center, and detained there.
When Xiao Wen's father learned about the arrest and detention he could not sleep for days. To rescue Xiao Wen's aunt, her father sought help from acquaintances in the police force and government, and he eventually managed to get the aunt released. However, her father could not understand why she wanted to go to Beijing just to incur sufferings for herself and family and waste money. He argued that if the government didn't allow it then people shouldn't practice Falun Gong.
Xiao Wen's aunt used every opportunity to explain to the father about the goodness of Falun Gong, that Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance is a universal value, that freedom of belief is guaranteed by the Chinese constitution, that Falun Gong teaches people to be good, and that practitioners don't participate in politics. Gradually, Xiao Wen's father stopped saying bad things about Falun Gong.
In the winter of 2000, Xiao Wen's aunt, who was in her sixties, went to Beijing again and displayed a banner in Tiananmen Square, while exclaiming "Falun Dafa is good." The police arrested her and held her at a Beijing detention center. This time Xiao Wen's father did not ask his acquaintances to help get the aunt released—he went to Beijing himself. Again, he managed to get her released. He was accompanied by a friend of Xiao Wen's uncle, who was a principal of a local private school. By the time Xiao Wen's aunt was released, she had been on a hunger strike for eight days.
After the aunt returned home, Xiao Wen's father didn't argue with her. He just told her to be careful about her safety in the future. Little by little, Xiao Wen's family became more and more willing to listen to the aunt talk about Falun Gong. From then on, whenever her aunt brought Falun Gong materials home the whole family would read them. After the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party was published, the whole family renounced their memberships in the CCP, Youth League, and Young Pioneers. Now Xiao Wen's parents and the rest of her family are practicing Falun Gong.
Kind-hearted people are bound to be blessed by heaven. Those who have made the right choices and helped practitioners during times of difficulty and crisis will be blessed by the deities. Last summer, Xiao Wen and her husband were doing business in a commercial building when it caught fire. As the fire approached their booth, it veered off in another direction. Other businesses suffered severe losses from the fire, but Xiao Wen's and her husband's booth wasn't damaged at all. Xiao knew it was a blessing brought about by practicing Falun Gong. Also, her father's efforts to rescue her aunt created a precious opportunity for the whole family to be saved and blessed.
The wife of the principal who helped rescue Xiao Wen's aunt has now also started practicing Falun Gong.
