(Clearwisdom.net) December 10th was World Human Rights Day. The Taiwan Legislature officially passed a resolution entitled “Denying Entry of Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Officials Committing International Crimes” on this day. This is a continuation of previously passed resolutions which were proposed in Kaohsiung, Zhanghua, Miaoli, Hualian, Yunlin, and Jiayi Counties. These resolutions state “Taiwan does not welcome, support, or invite CCP officials who have committed international human rights crimes.”
The resolution has an important background, a 10-year effort by Taiwanese Falun Gong practitioners to expose the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong in China. In addition, several visiting CCP officials have been sued recently in Taiwan.
Falun Gong is the most persecuted group in China. In the past 11 years of persecution, nearly one million practitioners have been imprisoned and/or sent to forced labor camps, detention centers, or mental hospitals. The practitioners have suffered a wide range of brutal persecution activities. After visiting China, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Torture reported that two thirds of the case reports he received were for Falun Gong practitioners. Over 3,400 practitioners are verified to have been persecuted to death.
In order to defend their human rights and beliefs, practitioners have been holding activities around the world, including in China, where they have actively exposed the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong to the public on World Human Rights Day.
Falun Gong practitioners in Austria held an information sharing activity at the old town city center calling for an end to the persecution. Practitioners in Malaysia gathered in front of the CCP Embassy in Kuala Lumpur to protest the persecution.
The human rights organization Responsible for Equality And Liberty (REAL) held a press event on “Compassion and Human Rights” at the National Press Club in Washington D.C. to commemorate the Universal Declaration of Human Rights created 62 years ago. Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Caylan Ford was invited to give a speech.
Ms. Ford cited a report from the Falun Dafa Information Center, stating that there were 63,000 reports on practitioners suffering brutal torture in China. She said, “The belief directing their behavior is that a human is born with compassion. As long as people know the truth, and know what the CCP has done to them and other people, their conscience will lead them to justice. The CCP's persecution cannot continue.”
REAL Founder Jeffrey Imm said that Falun Gong practitioners were invited to join the Human Rights Day activities because he was moved by their compassion. He said: “This is the best example I have ever seen of pursuing human rights with ‘compassion’ in the world.”
