Shen Yun will be performing in nine cities of Taiwan from March 19 until April 27, 2010, and has caused a great sensation there even before its arrival. Zhang Huaguan, the Jiayi County magistrate, not only sent congratulations and greetings to Shen Yun, but also ordered 900 tickets, which he intends to distribute to underprivileged groups and students. Last year when Shen Yun visited Taiwan, Kuang Lizhen, the Taidong County Magistrate, led more than 300 fellow villagers and friends and they drove five hours to Gaoxiong City to see the show. They disregarded the long travel time, because they wanted so much to see this highly regarded Shen Yun show. Afterwards, Magistrate Kuang described Shen Yun as the most exquisite show, and he sincerely looked forward to its visiting Taidong. Shen Yun touches people's hearts as it tours across town and country, extending benefits to many parts of Taiwan.
Shen Yun's ability to restore traditional culture has not only shocked Chinese compatriots, but also overcomes barriers of race, language, and religion. Many Easterners as well as Westerners were moved to tears.
Inspiration of Shen Yun Performing Arts
Since Shen Yun started its tour in 2010, it has created huge box office records, and seats were sold out in many cities. During their performance from February 5 to 14 in Los Angeles, six out of ten shows were performed before a full house. During the last afternoon show, the sponsor had to sell the seats on the side of the theater to accommodate extra people.
At the end of the last show in Shuiyuan City on February 28, Mayor Jin Rongxi stood up to applaud for a long time and expressed his thanks to the Shen Yun artists. He said in admiration: "It is rare to see such an outstanding show, displaying such lasting charm. It will be a happy moment if all of our one million and hundred thousand citizens in Shuiyuan could see the show."
On February 21, Shen Yun performed seven shows in Radio City Music Hall in New York. It attracted many Chinese people as well as people from out of town, who came by bus or airplane. One couple, who had just arrived in the U.S. from Fujian Province, took a plane from Missouri to see the show. Two other families took a bus from Connecticut just to see the show.
The Despicable Tactics of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in Obstructing Shen Yun Performing Arts
The popularity of Shen Yun stands in contrast with the CCP's inexcusable and absurd behavior against it. Shen Yun had originally planned to play in Hong Kong on January 27. But on the eve of the departure of Shen Yun Performing Arts from the U.S., the Hong Kong government refused to grant entry visas for six of its key technical personnel, which forced Shen Yun to cancel its performance in Hong Kong. People from all walks of life believed that the Hong Kong government had cooperated with the CCP. Several members of Hong Kong legislative bodies expressed their outrage and condemned the government for being obsequiously submissive to the CCP.
According to a European host, in order to prevent Shen Yun from performing in Europe in 2010, the CCP had coerced and threatened theaters and government officials in Germany, Austria, and France. The Romania Ministry of Education unexpectedly refused to allow Shen Yun to perform in a theater, even though the contract had already been signed. According to investigations, it was due to the CCP having bribed Romanian government officials.
Jiang Feng, the husband of Mei Xuan, a Shen Yun erhu performer, was to board a plane to the U.S. on February 18, 2010. He passed through airport security at the Shanghai Pudong Airport and had obtained a boarding pass, but he suddenly disappeared before the plane started boarding. Although information was sealed off, it is generally believed that he was abducted by the CCP and the 610 Office. The CCP scheme of interfering with Shen Yun is abundantly clear.
