(Clearwisdom.net) Several days ago, the news that a practitioner from our area had been illegally arrested shocked many practitioners. During the Fa-rectification period, persecution against an individual practitioner is also persecution against Falun Dafa and the whole body of practitioners. It interferes with saving sentient beings. During a discussion, we shared our thoughts as to why this incident had occurred, and we addressed different levels of the problem.
We realized that we sometimes we treated group study as a formality, and we thus did not achieve what Master had asked us to: "You have to be able to ensure a pure and sincere state when you study, and cultivate, and only then will you make improvements and get results." (Fa Teaching at the 2009 Greater New York International Fa Conference) The practitioner who had been arrested often dozed off during group Fa study. Consequently, he rarely looked inside when conflicts arose.
During cultivation, when faced with conflicts, we sometimes limited our improvement by only superficially examining what was good or bad, or who was right or wrong. We did not bother to find the roots of problems, or what kinds of attachments or human notions we had, so that we could rectify ourselves. As a result, the problems dragged on and were never solved, causing separations among us. Even though we appeared friendly, our hearts were unable to let go of attachments.
Through experience sharing, we also realized that we had omissions regarding speech. After seeing others' problems, we did not shared with them from the Fa. Rather, we spread rumors among practitioners and gossiped about who was good or bad, or who was right or wrong, causing barriers between one another. We also failed to look inside to see if we had human notions. All this severely affected our coordination and cooperation, which allowed the evil to take advantage of our omissions, causing further persecution and interference regarding our efforts to save sentient beings.
Another problem is lack of sincere sharing. Using myself as an example, when others pointed out my shortcomings and problems, I would react as if they were complaining about me. I did not realize that I had a strong attachment of self protection and was very selfish. Also, when seeing another's problem, I would only give the person a hint because I was afraid that he or she could not accept my words. I was really protecting myself, a form of selfishness.
These lessons hopefully will make us more clear-minded, and going forward we will approach Fa rectification and cultivation with rationality. Let us study the Fa well and mature in our cultivation and in assisting Teacher. The above is my own understanding. Please point out anything that is inappropriate.
