(Clearwisdom.net) Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999, several practitioners in the Xianghe area, Langfang City, Hebei Province, have died as a result, including Mr. Li Wenshen, former retired official from the Xianghe County Water Affairs Bureau. Hundreds of practitioners have been sentenced to forced labor and prison terms.
Mr. Li Wenju from Zhaotun Village, Qiantun Township, is still in prison. He was sentenced to forced labor in 2002 and not released until the end of 2003, when he was in critical condition from gross abuse and torture inflicted upon him at the Tangshan Forced Labor Camp. Mr. Li was arrested once again in April 2004 and sentenced to four years in prison. His parents died while he was in Baoding Prison. He was given a two-and-a-half-year prison term not long ago.
Ms. Wang Guixiang from Jiaozhuang Village endured two forced labor terms. Her two-year term at Hebei Province Women's Forced Labor Camp expired on March 24, 2010. Xianghe County 610 Office agents and officers from the Xianghe County Police Department took her straight to the Langfang City Brainwashing Center. Her sick mother, who is in her 80s, is bedridden at home and looking forward to seeing her daughter return.
Thousands of practitioners have been subjected to imprisonment, brainwashing, fines, and gross abuse and torture. Some typical examples include Ms. Meng Shuling, a teacher at the Baimiao Elementary School; Mr. Wang Kuiyi from Liusong Town; and Ms. Zhang Yuhui from Wangjiabai Village, who were forced to pay 40,000 yuan extortion.
