(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 23 cities or counties in 15 provinces. In this report, 28 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 30 practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Chongqing] Ms. Ma Changyu Arrested
Ms. Ma Changyu was arrested on the morning of April 29, 2010, as she left her home.
2. [Nanchong, Sichuan Province] Ms. Tang Guizhen Incarcerated at a Brainwashing Facility
Ms. Tang Guizhen from Nanchong City was arrested at home around 11:00 a.m. on April 16, 2010. Mr. Tian Minglu was also arrested at home around 9:00 a.m. that same day. They are being held in the Yangrenwan Brainwashing Center in Xishan Park. To our knowledge, five practitioners are still in the brainwashing center, two of whom are from Nanbu County.
3. [Suining, Sichuan Province] Elderly Mr. Jia Fushan Persecuted, Died
Mr. Jia Fushan, 91, lived in Nongxing Township, Pengnan Town, Pengxi County. His daughter and son-in-law were arrested on October 10, 2009. Officials intimidated him. He fell ill, became weak and was bedridden. He died on April 16, 2010.
4. [Langzhong, Sichuan Province] Ms. Huang Rong and Others Arrested
Three practitioners including Ms. Huang Rong were arrested on April 27, 2010, as they distributed Shen Yun performance DVDs at the Badu Market. An elderly man reported them to the police. Officers from the Dongcheng Police Station made the arrest. One practitioner escaped with the power of righteous thoughts; Ms. Huang and the other practitioner are being held in the Qili Detention Center.

5. [Guangzhou, Guangdong Province] Ms. Zheng Yingying and Others Held in the Chatou Women's Forced Labor Camp
Ms. Zheng Yingying, Ms. Liang Huixian, and Ms. Wu Liyuan from the Haizhu District were arrested on December 26, 2009. It happened as they spoke with people in Dafushan, Fanyu, about Falun Gong and the persecution. Officers from local police station, along with officers from the Haizhu District Police Station and Neighborhood Office staff ransacked the three practitioners' homes that same night. The practitioners are in the Chatou Women's Forced Labor Camp where Ms. Zheng will serve a two-year term.
6. [Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Dong Yueling Out on Bail and Awaiting Trial
Ms. Dong Yueling from Lianyungang was bailed out on April 29, 2010, and awaits trial. Ms. Dong's husband Mr. Zhu Chao is under criminal detention in the Xinpu Police Department.
7. [Gaocheng City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zheng Shujuan Arrested
Ms. Zheng Shujun from Gangshang Village, Gangshang Town, was arrested for her belief in Falun Gong. Dong Jianhui, former head of the Gangshang Village Police Station, and Sang Gangwei, former head of the Gaocheng City 610 Office, and others made the arrest.
8. [Tangshan, Hebei Province] Additional Information Regarding the Persecution of Mr. Yu Ziqing--belated information
Mr. Yu Ziqing, 46, from Xinglongdianzi Village, Zhenzi Town, Luan County, was arrested at home at around 2:00 p.m. on September 12, 2007. Officers from the Qian'an City Domestic Security Division, along with officers from the Luan County Police Department and from the Zhenzi Town Police Station made the arrest and took him to the Qian'an Custody Center. Mr. Yu was transferred to the Qian'an City Detention Center 15 days later. Court officials tried and sentenced him to three and a half years of imprisonment without informing his family. Mr. Yu was sent to Jidong Prison in December 2008.
9. [Qufu, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhao Genfa Arrested
Mr. Zhao Genfa was arrested on the morning of April 30, 2010, and immediately taken to Caiyuan Prison in Weishan County.
10. [Beijing] Ms. Wang Chongxiu Arrested
Ms. Wang Chongxiu from Longzhuashu Village in the Chaoyang District was arrested at home at noon on April 27, 2010. Officers from the Chongwen Police Department made the arrest. She is now in the Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp in the Daxing District.
11. [Bozhou City, Anhui Province] Ms. Wang Haiqin Arrested
Ms. Wang Huaiqin, in her 50s, from the Qiaocheng District was arrested on April 29, 2010, as she spoke with people in the countryside about Falun Gong and the persecution.
12. [Panjin, Liaoning Province] Mr. Wang Kaiming in Critical Condition Resulting from Persecution in a Prison
Mr. Wang Kaiming, retired from the Gaosheng Oil Extraction Factory in Liaohe Oil Field, was handed a four-year prison sentence in October 2008. He was held in Division No. 4 of Panjin Prison, where he was beaten and lost consciousness on April 14, 2010. Hospital authorities learned he was bleeding from the brain, was unable to control his bladder and bowels, and was in danger of dying. The prison officials approved his medical parole, but local police station head Zhao Yanhua refused to sign the document to have him released him on medical parole.

13. [Wuhan, Hubei Province] Ms. Wu Bilin and Others Arrested
Ms. Song Wenxiu, Ms. Wu Bilin, Ms. Huang Jing, and Ms. Sun Jingping from the Jiangan District were arrested on the morning of April 30, 2010. The four practitioners had gone to the Jiangan District Court that day to meet Judge Wu of the Criminal Court, in hopes of getting information regarding the unlawful arrest of Ms. Song's daughter, Ms Li Shihong, and how Jiang'an District Police Department officials fabricated evidence to frame Ms. Li.

14. [Panjin, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu Qing and Two Others Arrested
Ms. Liu Qing, Ms. Li Xiuying, and Ms. Zhang Li, all employed at the Wutan Company in the Liaohe Oil Field, were arrested on the afternoon of April 29, 2010, as they spoke with people at the Tianjia Market about Falun Gong and the persecution. We have learned that they were held in custody for 15 days. They are now in the Liaohe Oil Field's No. 3 Detention Center.
15. [Xianyang, Shaanxi Province] Update Regarding the Persecution of Ms. Ma Jie
Ms. Ma Jie from Xianyang City was reported and arrested on February 3, 2010, and taken to the Qindu District Drug Rehabilitation Center on February 4. She was ordered to stand for more than 80 hours and only allowed ten hours sleep during that time. She was given insufficient food and forced to squat. Xianyang City Police Department Labor Camp Education Committee agents issued a document on April 19, 2010, giving approval for Ms. Ma to serve her term outside the labor camp, but she was locked up at the No. 2 Cotton Hostel in the Northwestern area for a week. Her parents were forced to pay 955 yuan to secure her release.

16. [Chengdu, Sichuan Province] Mr. Peng Changhua Awaits Trial
Mr. Peng Changhua, Ms. Liu Guoxiu, Mr. Fan Huixia, and another practitioner were arrested at around 3:00 p.m. on July 21, 2009. It happened when the four practitioners went to visit elderly Mr. Fan, who had just recovered from illness. More than a dozen officers from the Xindu 610 Office, from the Domestic Security Division, and from the Chengxi Police Station suddenly broke into Mr. Fan's home and made the arrest. The police proceeded to ransack Mr. Peng Changhua's home, then they were on stakeout in Mr. Fan's home until 4:00 p.m. They arrested Ms. He Quan and another practitioner and they left Mr. Fan's home.
To our knowledge, Xindu District authorities will try Mr. Peng on May 7, 2010.

17. [Changchun, Jilin Province] Mr. Li Jingsong Taken into Custody at the End of His Forced Labor Term
Mr. Li Jingsong from Changchun City was supposed to end his forced labor term in mid-April 2010. Officers from the Taonan Police Station took him away the day of his release. His whereabouts is unknown.
18. [Beijing] Additional Information Regarding the Arrests of Ms. Pei Yuntong and Others
Ms. Sun Jingping, Ms. He Xinping, Ms. Pei Yuntong, and another unidentified practitioner were arrested on April 24, 2010. Their whereabouts are unknown.
Ms. Pei, in her 30s, had previously been held in the Beijing Women's Prison for seven years and was released in 2007. Ms. Sun Jingping, in her 30s, physically handicapped, had previously been imprisoned. Ms. He is in her 40s.
19. [Weifang, Shandong Province] Mr. Yu Shui (pseudonym) Arrested in Zibo City around April 22, 2010
20. [Daqing, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Xu Bin Subjected to Forced Labor
Mr. Xu Bin was given a one-year forced labor sentence and is now in the Suihua Forced Labor Camp.
21. [Hubei Province] Ms. Gong Ruiping Grossly Abused and Mistreated in a Forced Labor Camp
Ms. Gong Ruiping from the Pinggu District in Beijing was arrested prior to the 2008 Olympics and held in the Hubei Province Women's Forced Labor Camp. The guards denied her restroom use because she refused to be "reformed." She ended up soiling her pants, and the guards made her wear them for three days.
Ms. Gong was one of the ten excellent teachers in the Pinggu District in Beijing. She was held in the Beijing Women's Prison from 2001 to 2005. The guards subjected her to gross abuse and mistreatment. Two guards tortured her once with "leg-splitting" in a bathroom, each holding one leg and pulling them apart to 180 degrees. Ms. Gong had to walk with her legs apart for several months. Moreover, since her release, 610 Office agents and local police often harass her at home.
22. [Jinan, Shandong Province] Mr. Li Dejiang Arrested
Mr. Li Dejiang was arrested at around 11:00 a.m. on April 21, 2010, at his rented residence in the Qinghe residential area. Officers from the Yaoshan Police Station made the arrest under the pretense of checking residence permits. The police confiscated Falun Gong materials, a printer and a computer, and other personal property. Mr. Li was taken to the Jinan City Detention Center the next day.
23. [Hanzhong, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Zhou Junhua Given a Prison Term
Ms. Zhou Junhua, an employee of the Yang County Ceramic Factory in Hanzhong City, worked part time in Hangzhou because her company was nearly bankrupt. She was arrested in 2009 in Hangzhou. To our knowledge, more than a dozen practitioners in the same Fa-study group were arrested at the same time.
Ms. Zhou's employer received a notice of the judgment that stated Ms. Zhou was sentenced to eight years of imprisonment during the second trial at the end of April 2010, following Ms. Zhou's nine-month detention.
24. [Nanyang, Henan Province] Ms. Chen Jing and Four Other Practitioners Arrested and Held in a Brainwashing Facility
Ms. Lan Ping and Ms. Xing were arrested on the afternoon of April 20, 2010, as they spoke with people about Falun Gong. Nanyang City 610 Office agents made the arrests. The practitioners are now in the Kuaijie Restaurant Brainwashing Center. Three other practitioners are also in the same brainwashing center. They are Ms. Chen Jing, employed by the No. 2 Film Factory at the Kaile Corporation; a practitioner from the Wancheng District; and an unidentified practitioner.
25. [Beijing] Mr. Li Yandong and Five Other Practitioners Held in a Brainwashing Facility
Mr. Li Yandong; his wife, Ms. Liu Ruling; Ms. Chen Shulan; Mr. Wu Hongwei; and Mr. Wu Jingsheng are in a brainwashing facility near the Shisanling Farm Police Station in the Changping area.

26. [Guiyang City, Guizhou Province] Mr. Song Bangfu's Prison Term Expired
Mr. Song Bangfu from Guiyang City was sentenced to two years of forced labor and held in the Zhongba Men's Forced Labor Camp in Hongfenghu Town, Qingzhen City. His term expired on May 8, 2010.
27. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Sun Shuping's Family Forbidden to Visit Her in the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp
Ms. Sun Shuping from Lushun City was arrested on December 6, 2009, and sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor. She is now in the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. Her family went to visit her numerous times but was forbidden to meet with her. Her family's latest planned visit was on April 12, 2010, but they were not permitted to see Ms. Sun. No reason was given. Ms. Wang Juan's family went to visit Ms. Wang that same day, but they were also turned down.
28. [Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Huang Fengzhen Arrested
Officers from the Yangdong County Domestic Security Division broke into Ms. Huang Fengzhen's home on the afternoon of April 29, 2010. They searched her home and confiscated a computer, a printer, CDs and Falun Gong informational materials. They took Ms. Huang to the Baisha Detention Center.

29. [Dehui, Jilin Province] Mr. Sun Zhen's Term Extended
Mr. Sun Zhen was sentenced to eight years in prison. His term was supposed to expire on May 1, 2010, but Gongzhuling prison officials refused to release him, giving all kinds of excuses, and extended his term by three months. Mr. Sun suffers from tuberculosis. He is weak and confused.
30. [Wuzhou City, Guangxi Autonomous Region] Additional Information Regarding the Arrest of Ms. Huang Zhibin
Ms. Huang Zhibin, 65, from Jiujiang County, Jiangxi Province, went to visit her daughter in Wuzhou City. Officers from the Xinzhou Police Station arrested her on the evening of March 1, 2010. Xinzhou Police Department agents and those from the Dieshan Police Department proceeded to ransack the homes of Ms. Huang's two daughters.
When Ms. Huang's family went to visit her in the detention center, they noticed that her wrists were swollen from handcuffs, and her shoulder was injured. Officers from the Wuzhou City Police Department forwarded so-called information against Ms. Huang to the Wuzhou City Procuratorate. The officials declared they would release Ms. Huang if her family paid 200,000 yuan. Ms. Huang's family has hired a lawyer to defend her.
31. [Zunhua, Hebei Province] Ms. Cheng Yanshuang Subjected to Forced Labor
Ms. Cheng Yanshuang was taken to the Kaiping Forced Labor Camp in Tangshan on March 19, 2010. It was her second forced labor sentence. Her mother-in-law was in poor health. Ms. Cheng's imprisonment was a big blow to her. She died on April 2, 2010.
32. [Beijing] Mr. Luan Shujun Held in Custody
Officers from the Chaoyang District Domestic Security Division and from the Gaobeidian Police Station arrested Mr. Luan Shujun on April 22, 2009. No information about him has been available for the past year.
