(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Xu Zhiming did many good deeds for local people after he began cultivating Falun Gong, so folks called him "big nice man." Because he firmly held to his faith, local police arrested him five times, which resulted in his detainment at Weiningying and Beitai Forced Labor Camps in Benxi City. He was subjected to brainwashing multiple times during detention via inhuman methods of torture.
On April 12, 2007, approximately seven officers from the local police station and the City Police Department intruded into Mr. Xu's home while the family was sleeping. They ransacked the place without showing any identification or paperwork, then arrested Mr. Xu and took him to the Niuxintai Police Station. He was taken to Beitai Detention Center on the afternoon of April 13, 2007.
Mr. Xu was released after 15 days, but his family found him blurred of mind, as he was falling down while walking or sitting. He was unable to take care of his own daily routine and was a completely different person, compared with 15 days before.
His wife took him to be checked at the Benxi City Second Hospital, where the police forced the doctors to give an inaccurate diagnosis. His wife later took his laboratory paperwork to a hospital in another city where doctors definitively diagnosed that Mr. Xu was suffering from drug poisoning. This more or less proved that unknown drugs had been administered to Mr. Xu during his 15-day detention.
Accompanied by his wife, Mr. Xu went to the local police station to file a complaint. The City Police Department dispatched officers to hear the complaint several days later. Mr. Xu explained his physical condition in detail, but the officers from the City Police Department only told him that he could find a lawyer to represent his case. In order to evade responsibility, Officer Li Zhannan arrived at Mr. Xu's home the next day to force Mr. Xu's wife to sign a statement which stated, "Mr. Xu is in poor health and has many diseases," but she refused. Her son-in-law had no choice but to sign his name, rather than face further abuse. Li Zhannan finally forced Mr. Xu to sign his name, by threatening, "If you refuse to sign, we will take you into custody immediately." Mr. Xu signed his name under this intense pressure.
Mr. Xu was soon paralyzed, suffered from incontinence, and could not speak normally. During this time period, local police arrested their live-in maid, and harassed and deceived the family into surrendering their IDs to police during the Olympics. Mr. Xu died on May 19, 2010, after long-term persecution.
