(Clearwisdom.net) On the afternoon of June 19, 2010, Xi Jinping, vice president of the People's Republic of China, visited Melbourne. Local Falun Gong practitioners held a rally to protest the persecution of Falun Gong in China.
When Xi's limousine arrived and later left his hotel, practitioners displayed banners which were seen by the 200 strong Chinese delegation. The protest was very peaceful and police officers on duty were very pleased.
The practitioners gathered at a designated spot outside the Grand Hyatt Melbourne after 4 p.m. They displayed banners which read "Support 75 Million Chinese People Who have Quit the Chinese Communist Party," "Quit and Disintegrate the CCP" and "Falun Dafa is Good."
When Xi's limousine passed by the main entrance of the hotel, some practitioners open a "Falun Dafa is Good" banner. They also shouted "Falun Dafa is Good," "Immediately End the Persecution of Falun Gong," "Quit the CCP to Secure a Good Future," "Bring Jiang Zemin and Luo Gan to Justice," etc. Many members of Xi's delegation saw the banners and heard the messages.
Xi's delegation has over 200 people and chartered several buses which were parked at a side entrance of the hotel. Several practitioners went there to protest. Some passersby saw them and asked what was happening. After learning about the persecution and the protest, some commented that the practitioners were doing the right thing.
After 6 p.m., Xi left the hotel. At several intersections where Xi had to pass, practitioners displayed banners to let Xi and his assistants know their purpose: End the persecution of Falun Gong and release all detained practitioners.
The protest lasted about 2 hours, and police officers on duty said that the protest scene was very touching and the practitioners did a good job.
People in a nearby church said that they learned about the persecution from the protest and were very touched.
