(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 16 cities or counties in 9 provinces. In this report, 14 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 21 practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Da County, Sichuan Province] Mr. Peng Darong Arrested and Brainwashed
Mr. Peng Darong, retired from the Da County Food Bureau, was arrested on April 25, 2010. He has been ill-treated ever since.
2. [Beijing ] More Information about Ms. Li Zhanjin
Ms. Li Zhanjin from Beijing University was arrested by officers from the Haidian District Police Station at the end of last year. Shee was held at the Haidian Detention Center. On January 28, 2010, officers from the Beijing City Police Department were ordered to arrest her, and she was later detained at the Beijing First Detention Center. Her case was transferred to the No. 1 Procurator in Beijing. Because Ms. Li remained silent during interrogation and did not give her signature, officers from the First Procurator of the city Procuratorate had to return her case to the Haidian District Procurator. 4. [Tianjin City] Ms. Wang Zhongfeng Arrested
Ms. Wang Zhongfeng from the Dongli District in Tianjin City, around 45 years old, was arrested by four officers from the Zhangguizhuang Police Station when she was clarifying the truth at the Zhangguizhuang Sunday Market in the Dongli District at 1:00 p.m. on May 23, 2010. Currently, she is in the Dongli District Detention Center.
5. [Langfang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Xu Zhuan Mistreated
On May 13, 2010, Ms. Xu Zhuan was reported when she went to another village to tell people about Falun Gong. She is now in the Langfang District Brainwashing Center.
6. [Gucheng County, Hebei Province] More Information about the Abuse of Ms. Wang Wenzhi and Ms. Li Fengling
On May 13, 2010, Ms. Wang Wenzhi was arrested by Qi Jinmin, the director of Juntun Town People's Congress; Chen Zhenyong and Kang Shihua from the Juntun Police Station; and three other officers. Qi and the three officers tracked and monitored her by asking for Falun Gong souvenirs when Ms. Wang was clarifying the truth at the Juntun Town Maret, Gucheng County. At that time, Ms. Li Fengling had just passed by and went to ask them if anything was wrong. Several of the officers held her arms, saying, "This is also a Falun Gong practitioner." Both practitioners were arrested and taken to the Juntun Police Station. Ms. Li's arms were injured. Ms. Wang was struck on her back with an electronic baton by Kang Shihua four or five times. Then she was detained for a day. They were not released until each had shelled out 3000 yuan.

7. [Linyi City, Shandong Province] Police Confiscate Personal Belongings from Ms. Duan Jiazhi's Home
At 11:00 p.m. on May 25, 2010, five officers from the Lanshan District, Linxin City, stormed into a residence during the day. They confiscated personal belongings from Ms. Duan Jiazhi's home in Dongmiaozhuang Village. They took two copies of Zhuan Falun, three MP3 players, one set of nine DVDs on the 9-Day Lecture in Guangzhou, one DVD of the "Fa Teaching Given to the Australian Practitioners," a copy of the Minghui Weekly, etc.
On the same day, Mr. Deng Liangcun was also harassed by five officers at his home.
8. [Jilin Province] Ms. Bai Jingzhi Tried in Huadian City Court
On May 25, 2010, Ms. Bai Jingzhi was secretly tried in the Huadian City Court. Her relatives were not notified. Outside the court was a heavy guard, including a fire engine. The proceedings took just over an hour to complete.
On the same night, officers from the neighborhood administration harassed other Falun Gong practitioners. Some were under residential surveillance.
9. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Mu Shulan Arrested
On the morning of May 20, 2010, Ms. Mu Shulan from Dazhuangtou, Xixia City, was arrested by Yan Yunchuan, the instructor of Taocun Town Police Station. She is now in a detention center. Police officers from the Taocun Town Station told Ms. Mu's family that she could not be released until they paid up. Otherwise, she would be taken to the Yantai City Brainwashing Center.

11. [Siping City, Jilin Province] On May 14, 2010, Ms. Guan Xiaofang Arrested and Taken to Siping City Brainwashing Center
12. [Tianjin City] Ms. Jia Wenguang Tried
At 2:00 p.m. on May 25, 2010, Ms. Jia Wenguang was sentenced to five years in prison in the Hebei District Court, Tianjin City.
On that day, there were guards in uniforms and plainclothes everywhere. Armed guards surrounded the courthouse. There were two buses fully loaded with guards. Plainclothes officers recorded everything with micro video cameras.
In the presence of a few of Ms. Jia's relatives, Li Jinzhu, the chief justice, read out the verdict. Deputy justice Zhu Guoli and assistant justice Nie Fuyin were absent. After the verdict was read, it was announced that the trial was over. It took only ten minutes. Ms. Jia refused to sign the verdict.

13. [Chongqing] Ms. Kuang Xinrong Sentenced to Four Years in Prison
Ms. Kuang Xinrong from Jiangjin, Chongqing, was tried on January 25, 2010. They would not allow attorneys to defend her--she was denied her civil rights. On approximately May 20, 2010, she was secretly sentenced to four years in prison.
14. [Shanghai] Ms. Zhu Feilan Sentenced to Prison Again
Ms. Zhu Feilan from the Nanhui District, Shanghai, was arrested by police officers from the Domestic Security Division 610 Office of the Nanhui District on April 25, 2010. Her home was ransacked. She was taken to the Nanhui District Detention Center and sentenced to one year in prison. This is the second time that she was arrested. The first time she was sentenced to three years in prison.
15. [Wuhua City, Hubei Province] Ms. Tang Xuhong Arrested at Home on the Night of April 28, 2010, Now Detained in the Wuhan City First Detention Center

At 10:00 p.m. on May 25, 2010, police officers from Beishankou Township, Gongyi City, arrested Ms. Xin Zhi and Ms. Zhang Li from Nanshankou. They were taken to Beishankou Detention Center.
18. [Liaoning Province] Ms. Chen Xi, Ms. Wang Guilan, Mr. Xu Jie, and Mr. Jiao Jian Detained in Zhangzhi Forced Labor Camp, Shenyang City
19. [Hubei Province] Practitioners Held in Wuhan City Hewan Drug Rehabilitation Center
Falun Gong practitioners held in the Hewan Women Drug Rehabilitation Center in Wuhan City include Ms. Wang Yujie, 23 years old, from Xiantao City. She was sentenced to one year. Because she refuses to be "transformed," she is made to keep stand for long periods of time. She can sleep only from 2:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. Otherwise, she has to stand. She is frequently handcuffed when the guards find any excuse.
Ms. Yu Kun, 46, was sentenced to one year and a half years. She was forced to stand and ordered to write a statement. If the guards were not satisfied with her statement, they tore it up and brutally beat her.
Ms. Li Juhua from Huangpo, 55, was sentenced to one year and a half years.
There is another practitioner in his or her 50s whose name is unknown.
20. [Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Hongyun Arrested and Her Whereabouts Unknown
Ms. Wang Hongyun from Houkangjia Village, Xinzhuang Town, Zhaoyuan City, was reported and arrested when she put truth-clarifying stickers around Huangshanguan Market. Her whereabouts is unknown.
21. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhang Suying Arrested on May 25, 2010
22. [Junan County, Shandong Province] Six Practitioners Arrested
On May 21, 2010, three practitioners from Junan County, Linyi City, were arrested when they went to Xiangyin Town, Junan County, to distribute Falun Gong materials. They were Mr. Ren Zengui, in his 60s, an employee of Junan County Hospital; Ms. Liu Yugui; and Ms. Wei Chaohua, an employee of the education bureau.
On May 22, 2010, Ms. Wang Zhenhua from Kaiyuan Prepared Goods for Delivery Center, Junan County; Ms. Lu Shimei, in her 50s, from Junan County Secondary Experimental Elementary School; and another, unnamed practitioner were arrested.
Except for Ms. Wei, the other five practitioners are being held in the Junan County Detention Center.

Since Ms. He Xianzhen was arrested in September 2009, she has been held at the Xichang City Detention Center. On May 13, 2010, she was tried in the Xichang City Court.
Ms. He's deceased husband was employed by the Huidong County 301 Mine. The 301 Mine paid Ms. He 200 yuan each month as a subsidy. After she was arrested, the 301 Mine was ordered by the City Domestic Security Division to withhold her subsidy.
