(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Pei Zhifu was diagnosed with femoral head necrosis in 1980, and suffered from debilitating pain, paralysis, and low body weight (77 lb.) for over a decade prior to starting to practice Falun Gong in 1996. Before he started practicing Falun Gong, his health was so bad that his family was preparing for his imminent death.
Mr. Pei began to read the book Zhuan Falun while lying in bed on New Year's Day in 1996. He then started to notice improvement in his health and was gradually able to sit up. As his health improved further, he began to perform the Falun Gong exercises while sitting up in bed. Eventually, he was able to stand up and later to walk with some assistance. By 2000, his paralysis and other symptoms disappeared completely to the point that he could perform manual labor.
He has however, suffered persecution by the Chinese Communist Party for his belief in Falun Gong. He was reported to have been illegally detained at the Tangyuan County Detention Center in 2010, and the police have repeatedly refused to allow his family to visit him.
