(Clearwisdom.net) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in five cities or counties in four provinces. According to this report, eight practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least three practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Leshan, Sichuan Province] Three Falun Gong Practitioners Illegally Sentenced
Ms. Liu Bin, 40; Ms. Zhong Shufeng, 56; and Ms. Gu Suhua, 58 from the Wutongqiao District in Leshan City were arrested on July 13, 2010, as they posted truth-clarification messages along the road in Wangcun Town, Jingyan County. Officers from the Wangcun Police Station made the arrests and took them to the Jingyan County Detention Center. Jingyan County Court officials tried them in November 2010 without informing the practitioners' families. The three practitioners defended themselves in court but have been held in custody ever since.
Court officials held a second trial on January 12, 2011, and announced the verdicts at the end of the trial. Ms. Liu Bin was sentenced to three and a half years in prison and Ms. Zhong and Ms. Gu each to three years. They all appealed and are still being held in the detention center. They have been denied family visits for more than six months.
2. [Qixia, Shandong Province] Ms. Liu Xiangrong and Ms. Liu Fengxiang Arrested
Ms. Liu Xiangrong and Ms. Liu Fengxiang visited their relatives on February 12, 2011, in Gezidonggou Village, Tangjiabo. They took the opportunity to tell the villagers the truth about Falun Gong. Officers from the Tangjiabo Police Station arrested the two practitioners and held them for 12 hours, but released them that same night.
3. [Shanxi Province] Arrest of Ms. Wu Jinling, an Outstanding Teacher at the Taigu No. 2 High School
Ms. Wu Jinling was arrested at home on January 30, 2011. Participating in the arrest were more than a dozen officers from the Shanxi Province 610 Office, from the Jinzhong and Taigu 610 Offices, together with state security division officers from the Jinzhong and Taigu police departments. Ms. Wu's whereabouts are unknown.
4. [Beijing] Ms. Guan Jinzhu Subjected to Forced Labor
Ms. Guan Jinzhu from Beijing was arrested on January 12, 2011 and sentenced to two years of forced labor. She is now in Beijing's Daxing Women's Forced Labor Camp's Division No.4.
5. [Heilongjiang Province] Yuan Ligang, Head of Ward No. 5 in the Daqing Prison, Commits Atrocities
Ward No. 5 head Yuan Ligang in Daqing Prison violently beat Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Wang Shusen, Mr. An Xing, Mr. Gong Haiou, and Mr. Liu Hongtu, who were imprisoned in Ward No. 5 in May 2009. Guard Yang Youlong from Division No. 5 and Riot Police Team officers Liu Bo and Xu Qing also participated in the crime. The perpetrators forced the practitioners to wear prison uniforms. Yuan Ligang beat Mr. Wang Shusen to the ground with a wooden bed board. Yuan and Yang Youlong then stripped Mr. Liu Hongtu naked in front of all the other inmates and instigated criminal inmates Rui Xiang and others to brutally beat him, forcing him to wear a prisoner's uniform. Mr. Liu was unable to move his legs as a result of the beating.
Yuan Ligang instigated guard Yang Youlong and criminals Rui Xing and Zhang Jing to abuse and torture practitioners in June, July, and August 2009. They attempted to force the practitioners to “reform” and to write the three statements to renounce their belief.
