(Clearwisdom.net) It was reported that the Qihetai City 610 Office agents in Heilongjiang Province were planning to go to the Wuchang City Brainwashing Center to learn how to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. We may wonder what types of skills they might learn there. To answer that question, we need to first look at what has happened there recently.
What happened at the Wuchang Brainwashing Center
Practitioners from different places in Heilongjiang Province are detained and brutally tortured in Wuchang Brainwashing Center.
Mr. Zhao Changjiang, an employee of the Daqing Natural Gas Company, was illegally arrested in March 2010 and sent to the Wuchang Brainwashing Center. Brainwashing Center head Fu Yanchun and other agents beat Mr. Zhao, ripping off part of his nose. They also kicked him and forced him to stay under a bed for an entire night. When Mr. Zhao was released from the brainwashing center a month later, he was not longer able to think or speak clearly.
Mr. Qian Houming, a doctor in the Sazhong Second Hospital in Daqing City, was persecuted many times for his belief. He was kept in a detention center and, after being sentenced to seven years of imprisonment, he was detained in Hulan Prison in Heilongjiang Province. One year after Mr. Qian was released from the prison, the police arrested him again and took him to Wuchang Brainwashing Center. Guards detained him in a corner room with no light. They twisted his hands behind his back and handcuffed them. As a result, he could not stand or squat down. The guards deprived him of food and threatened not to release him until he wrote statements denouncing Falun Gong. Mr. Qian’s blood pressure went up to 180, and one of the nerves in his lower body died. He has been detained for about two months and still has not been released.
There are more than 10 rooms in the brainwashing center and each room has two beds. There are posters on the walls that defame Falun Gong and there are books that slander Falun Gong in the rooms. Immediately after practitioners arrive, they meet with physical torture. The thugs slap their faces, beat them, and verbally abuse them.
If practitioners do not yield to their demands, they are put in solitary confinement, where they are tortured by being placed in a cage so small that they are unable to stand up or squat down.
After practitioners first arrive, guards pressure them to write statements that denounce Faun Gong. This lasts about 20 days. Every day, the thugs surround practitioners and threaten them, usually till 11 p.m. or midnight. The thugs often beat the practitioners as they talk. This process relentlessly continues without let up until practitioners write statements to give up practicing. After that, the thugs force these practitioners to read books that defame Falun Gong and make notes on what they have “learned” from the books. Every evening, all the practitioners are called together and everyone has to read his or her “notes.” Once every three or four days, practitioners are forced to watch videos that slander Falun Gong and write “notes” afterwards.
The thugs at the brainwashing center think of many terrible ways to forcibly “transform” practitioners. They force practitioners to drink wine or beer during meals to show they are indeed “transformed.” They also force practitioners to kill live chickens or fish; anyone who refuses to follow their orders is not considered “transformed.”
Gao Xuefei, a guard at the Nanma Brainwashing Center in Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province, once said, “Brainwashing centers are not prisons. But here we can use tactics that prison officials dare not use. This is a super-prison.”
The vicious deeds committed by brainwashing center head Fu Yanchun
Fu Yanchun, the head of Wuchang Brainwashing Center, is the principal culprit who tortures and “transforms” practitioners.
Fu abuses practitioners in many ways, including slapping their faces, shocking them with electric batons, handcuffing their hands and stretching them out, sleep deprivation, not allowing them to use the toilet, beating them with thick plastic pipes, hiiting them with wooden clubs, whipping them with specially designed whips, and swearing at them with dirty words.
For practitioners who refuse to write statements denouncing Falun Gong, Fu and others beat them. They stretch out practitioners’ arms in opposite directions, handcuff their hands to two beds, and force them to squat down. They then kick practitioners’ faces with their boots. If practitioners collapse, they make them stand up. This is repeated over and over again. In addition, they slap practitioners in the face, force-feed them wine, and shock them with electric batons. The thugs also forcibly place practitioners’ fingerprints on papers that already have statements written on them denouncing Falun Gong. For practitioners who were “transformed” against their will, the thugs force them to read books that slander Falun Gong and Master Li Hongzhi, as well as write statements several times a day that denounce Falun Gong.
Why Qihetai 610 Office agents went to the Wuchang Brainwashing Center
Wuchang Brainwashing Center persecutes innocent Falun Gong practitioners. Then, why do Qitaihe 610 Office agents want to go there to “learn?”
Agents from the Qitaihe Political and Judicial Bureau, Boli County Political and Judicial Bureau, and 610 Office arrested a practitioner in October 2010. Due to demands from the practitioner and her family, however, she was released on the five days later. Below are the details.
Several officials went to the Boli Fourth Middle School at 10 a.m. on December 6, 2010, including Liu Pengjie, head of CCP Youth League at the Boli County Education Department; Hao Yongbo, Boli County 610 Office head; Zhao Pengfei, Boli County 610 Office deputy head; Shi Wanxin, Boli County Domestic Security Division head; and several police guards. They arrested Ms. Wu Pingqiang and detained her in a newly opened brainwashing center.
When Ms. Wu did not return home, her family went to the school principal, Xu Yashan. Xu said, “The county 610 Office officials arrested her because she practices Falun Gong. You need to contact the 610 Office.” Ms. Wu’s family went to the brainwashing center.
Hao Yongbo from the county 610 Office came soon afterwards. Ms. Wu’s parents-in-law asked Hao, “Why did you arrest our daughter-in-law? She is a very good person and takes care of three of us elderly ones (grandfather-in-law, 87 years old; father-in-law, 64; mother-in-law, 63)” Hao said, “We already have a plan for that. After your daughter-in-law is 'transformed,' we will bring your son here, so that she can 'transform' him.” Ms. Wu’s family said the officials were worse than thieves. Due to extreme stress and grief, her grandfather-in-law’s heart disease recurred and worsened.
When Ms. Wu’s family pleaded for her release, Hao did not know what to do. He said, “This brainwashing center was established with the Qitaihe City Political and Judicial Bureau. I have to ask them about it.” He made a phone call and told them, “A Qitaihe City official will come here at 11:30 a.m.” After about 40 minutes, Yang Zhijie, deputy head of the Qitaihe City Political and Judicial Bureau, showed up and repeatedly said that Ms. Wu could not be released. Ms. Wu’s mother-in-law walked up and said to Yang, “If you do not release her, then I will die right here.” She walked towards Yang. Yang stepped to the side and Ms. Wu’s mother-in-law fell to the floor, weeping. Ms. Wu’s family said, “This is horrible. Can't you release Ms. Wu?” Yang said, “It is not my decision.” Ms. Wu’s family said, “Then please tell us who can make the decision.” Ms. Wu’s father-in-law (who is not a practitioner) was furious and began to swear at Yang. After 10 minutes, Yang went into a back room and did not come out until Ms. Wu’s family left.
After Ms. Yang went in, Ms. Wu’s mother-in-law continued crying for about an hour. One family member said to Hao, “If you do not release Ms. Wu today, we three elderly people have no choice but to move into your home, since there is no one to take care of us. Since you live in a luxurious building and it is not far from Ms. Wu’s home, it will be easy for Ms. Wu’s husband to visit us.” Hao was silent.
Then a kindhearted staff person said to Ms. Wu’s family, “You win,” and began to ask Hao to release Ms. Wu. Hao released her.
