(Clearwisdom.net) I am a new Falun Gong practitioner living in a rural area. I am a female and in my thirties. I first learned about Falun Gong in July 2008. I went to a practitioner's home to exchange some oil. The young lady was a practitioner, and she told me about the persecution of Falun Gong and what Falun Gong was.
The next time I went to her home to get oil, I asked her where I could get a copy of the Falun Gong book and where I could study the Fa. She kindly gave me the information, and I was then able to obtain a copy of Zhuan Falun. I carefully read and studied the Fa and felt I had found a valuable treasure. Teacher cleansed my body the first time I did the five exercises. Although I cannot see Teacher, I feel that he is with me and caring for me all the time. Words cannot convey my respect for Teacher. All I can do is to be more diligent and return to my true home with him.
Three of us went to hand out Falun Gong flyers on the evening of January 27, 2009. At the time, I had only practiced Falun Gong for two months. Someone reported us to the police and we were arrested and taken to the county detention center. One of the other two practitioners was a lady who was older than me. I didn't know her at the time, and she could have easily avoided arrest, but instead she didn't leave, in order to rescue me. When I entered the detention center, I didn't know what to do and I was very frightened. I slept for almost three days and nights. The other practitioner kept reciting the Fa to me to wake me up. She later recited Lunyu and poems from Hong Yin with me every day. When she recited other Fa lectures, I sat and listened carefully and tried to memorize them. We also did the exercises, sent forth righteous thoughts, and clarified the truth together.
After we were arrested, over 20 more people were put into the detention center, and we clarified the truth to each of them. We also clarified the truth to the police. At one point, a police officer called me into the duty room. He tried to pretend to be very nice and told me to sign a repentance statement, or else I would be sent to a forced labor camp. Instead of signing the piece of paper, I clarified the truth to him. He then said that I must write a statement promising not to practice Falun Gong any longer. I said I was illiterate and I only knew how to write “Falun Dafa is good” and “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” He then grabbed my hand and pushed it on the paper and made up a name. This is how we got out of the detention center after 15 days.
During the entire process, local practitioners put forth much effort to rescue us. Overseas practitioners called to pressure the evil, and Teacher strengthened us. After I got home, the old forces tried to use my family to stop me from practicing Falun Gong. My husband, son, sister-in-law, sister, and mother all put a lot of pressure on me to try to force me to give up cultivation. The fellow practitioner who was with me in the detention center quietly helped me. She gave me all the lectures that Teacher had published. I continuously memorized the Fa, hand-wrote the Fa, read the Fa, and studied the Fa, and through my firm belief in Teacher and Dafa, I was able to endure. I studied all the lectures, read the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party and Dissolving the Party Culture several times. I also carefully read all the Falun Gong flyers that I had, and memorized parts of them. This helped me build a solid foundation for clarifying the truth later.
Only when we listen to Teacher's advice to study and memorize the Fa more, study the Fa well, and do a good job in sending forth righteous thoughts can we do well in saving sentient beings. When I study the Fa well, the environment in my home becomes much better. My husband and son now no longer oppose my doing the three things, and I have incorporated clarifying the truth into my daily life. Since I obtained the Fa, I have tried not to miss any opportunity to save people.
Last June, my husband's sister had a baby. I went to a shop to buy baby supplies and gave the shop owner a Shen Yun DVD. She accepted it gladly. After several days, I went to the same shop to buy a child’s bicycle. The owner welcomed me warmly and asked me to sit down by the fan. Her husband's sister was also there. She was working for a large foreign enterprise in Guangzhou City, and she was deeply poisoned by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). I spent two hours talking with them and finally was able to convince them to quit the CCP. I have encountered many sentient beings who were poisoned by the CCP, but with compassion and patience, I was able to convince many of them to quit the party. Sometimes I could also convince people to quit the CCP after just a couple of sentences.
On August 15, I went to my parents' home to see my father, who was ill. I brought with me 15 Shen Yun DVDs, more than 30 small booklets, and several DVDs of the Nine Commentaries. When giving out the Shen Yun DVD, I would tell people that it was priceless. I distributed the small booklets that evening. On my way home the next morning, I gave a booklet to an elderly man who lives at the entrance of the village. I was just about to leave but he stopped a police car. I went blank for a second, then I thought maybe it was to help me eliminate my attachment of fear.
Calmly I went and sat in the police car and began talking to the young police officer, asking for Teacher's help at the same time. As usual, I used a compassionate mind and tone to clarify the truth to the officer. I asked him his name and where he worked. He told me that he worked in the county police station and his last name was Chen. I said, “Everyone knows that the police are supposed to punish the evil and keep the peace for the good people; punish the bad and reward the good.” He smiled. I said, “But in today's world, sometimes one can't do things following his own conscience. Whatever he's ordered to do from higher-ups, he's just got to do it. Even if you are ordered to go kill good people and do things that are against your conscience, you still have to do it, or else you will lose your job.” He said, “Really? Are there things like that?” I said, “Isn't there a 610 Office in your police station?” He immediately said, “What? You practice Falun Gong?”
I didn't answer his question directly, but I followed his thoughts and talked about my cousin. I said my cousin was in a high position in the military in Beijing when the CCP began persecuting Falun Gong on July 20, 1999. Last year, I happened to see him when I was at his parents' place. I told him about the persecution and he immediately agreed to quit the CCP. He also told me that the CCP was absolutely wrong for persecuting Falun Gong because they are persecuting a group of good people. The officer said, “It's not good that Falun Gong opposes the Party. It's also not good that Falun Gong tells people to quit the Party.” I said, “Nowadays there are so many natural disasters. When a disaster comes, there is nothing that a person can do. We tell people to quit the CCP so that when major disaster comes, they will be able to survive.
The young officer listened quietly. I then talked about the beauty of Falun Gong. I told him that our Teacher requires that all Falun Gong practitioners not kill, smoke, drink, gamble, or have a relationship with someone who is not one's spouse, and that we should look inward when encountering difficulties, and be better and better people. Master said,
“...improper relations between people who aren’t husband and wife is a sin for human beings; it undermines the institution of the family as well as ethical relations.” (“Fa Teaching Given in Manhattan” 2006)
I recited this line to him. He nodded to show his agreement. Without us realizing it, we had reached the destination. I said, “Let me help you to quit the CCP with a pseudonym.” He kept saying, “Okay! Thank you! I really want to take you a little farther.” I said, “That's okay. I just hope that you will share these words with your coworkers so that they will not do things against their consciences, and will choose a bright future for themselves.” Watching him leave, I was very happy for him. I was now aware that even police officers need to be saved and that we should not be afraid of them. Teacher has helped me remove the substance that causes fear.
The magnificence of Dafa has allowed me to change my everyday notions and eliminate the competitive and resentful mentalities. Before I obtained the Fa, I had arguments with all my neighbors, but we now get along well and I have a nice relationship with all of them. When my neighbors' family and friends come to visit, I also clarify the truth to them.
I still however, have not reached the state of true compassion and forbearance, and am far from Teacher's requirement. I still can't get up at midnight to send forth righteous thoughts every night. I still have many attachments that I need to dig out and eliminate. But I believe that I will be able to do it because, as Master said,
“The Fa can break all attachments, the Fa can destroy all evil, the Fa can shatter all lies, and the Fa can strengthen righteous thoughts.” (“Drive Out Interference,” from Essentials for Further Advancement II)
There is no model for clarifying the truth. If we use our compassion to influence others and use our hearts to speak, then they will feel that our compassion is indeed for their benefit and they will be saved.
I know that all of this is done by our great Teacher. I am merely going through the motions. Teacher said in Zhuan Falun “...cultivation depends on one’s own efforts while the transformation of gong is done by the master.” It is not that the sentient beings don't want to be saved. It is that we have not been able to do it.
If we search within unconditionally and make sure that every thought, every word, and every action is in accordance with the Fa, then the power of the Fa will be with us and we will be able to save more people. Sentient beings really are anxiously waiting to be saved. Not long ago, I clarified the truth to an elderly lady from Wuhan City who was visiting her relatives here. She immediately told her daughter to quit the CCP after she heard what I said. She told me that when she went back to Wuhan, she would tell everyone she knew about the beauty of Dafa and about quitting the CCP, so that they could all be saved. I told her that the CCP is very evil and she needs to be careful.
I didn't write this article with the intention of showing off. My purpose is to encourage those who are not diligent and have not yet stepped forward. I hope they will be able to let go of human notions and do the three things well, so that they will be able to go home with Teacher.
