Chinese tourist: Shen Yun really touches the heart

Wu Hui-Feng, 80, a master painter, had this to say about the show: “I really admire the performers’ movements and the gorgeous colors. The costumes are remarkably beautiful. I like that program very much. The colors are dazzling—it was very eye catching. In addition, the synchronization of the performers and the digital backdrops was also amazingly good.”
Mr. Wu’s granddaughter, who is majoring in natural dye design at a university, said, “The colors and stage design were all perfectly coordinated. The performers’ costumes and accessories matched nicely with the dancing. It was very unique. It never occurred to me that performing arts can be presented with such beautiful dynamic backdrops.”

People from mainland China cannot yet see Shen Yun, due to the continued suppression of traditional arts and freedom of expression under the authoritarian regime. But some mainlanders have traveled abroad to see the show, like Lianzi (an alias). She exclaimed, “Very awe-inspiring! That kind of feeling is beyond description! The first program left a deep impression on me, while the last one left me awe-struck! Everyone knows Falun Gong practitioners are really good, really! Now in China, trustworthy people like [Falun Gong practitioners] are rarely found,” she said.
