(Clearwisdom.net) Director Liu Yuanhang of the Huangxu 95 Plant, a prison in Deyang City, Sichuan Province, ordered the prison guards to torture all detained Falun Gong practitioners at the beginning of February 2011.
Leader of the first ward, officer Luo Guanglun, ordered six criminal inmates to take turns torturing practitioners Mr. Zhang Chunbao and Mr. Liu Jia, who were detained separately in a single room. Guards covered the windows with thick paper so that people passing by would not see what was going on inside. Two collaborators watched by the door, preventing anyone else form seeing or talking to Mr. Zhang or Mr. Liu. The two were provided only with porridge in the morning and some rice with few vegetables for lunch and dinner. Officer Luo gave orders that neither Mr. Zhang or Mr. Liu get any meat.
The guards did not allow Mr. Zhang or Mr. Liu Jia out and only let them sleep two hours at night, forcing them to stand the rest of the night facing a wall. On the first night, Mr. Zhang's feet became very swollen from standing. During the day, Mr. Zhang and Mr. Liu were forced to sit on a plastic bench and were not allowed to stand up, but at night, they were forced to stand again. Luo Guanglun also demanded that everything Mr. Zhang and Mr. Liu did throughout the day be recorded.
Several days later, Mr. Liu's eyes turned red from additional torture. During the hot summer, they forced him to put on cotton-padded clothes and a hat. They used the strings attached to each cuff of the jacket to tie his hands behind his back and connected his two trouser legs with a short, 10-cm-long string. Mr. Liu Jia could neither stand nor sit straight. The guards forced both Mr. Liu Jia and Mr. Zhang to squat down, and since the distance between their two legs was small, they could not sustain the position and easily fell down.
Officer Luo Guanglun yelled at them, “Let's see how long you can stand at night without any sleep and how long you can squat during the day without enough food! Then we'll see if you will give up Falun Gong!”
