(Clearwisdom.net) On August 13, Falun Gong practitioners from Houston held a rally on Bellaire Boulevard in Chinatown to show support for the 100 million Chinese citizens who have withdrawn their membership in the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its associated organizations, and to call for an end to the persecution of Falun Gong.
The rally in Houston's Chinatown
Since the publication of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, Falun Gong practitioners have often come to Chinatown to raise awareness about the CCP's atrocities and encourage people to quit the Party.
Ms. Shen and her husband live far away from Chinatown. Although she cannot drive, she still finds opportunities to travel to Chinatown to pass out informational materials and talk to Chinese people. One day, she and her husband held a banner in Chinatown to inform people about the movement to quit the Party. A 20-year-old Chinese man took photos of them. She asked him why he was taking photos. The young man told her, “When I was in China, I heard about the movement of quitting the Party, but I didn't believe it. However, here in Houston, I see it with my own eyes.” The young man was excited. “You cannot see this in China. I will upload these photos to websites, so that more Chinese people will see it,” he said.
Ms. Zeng is a volunteer at the Service Center for Quitting the Party. She has come to Chinatown every weekend for three years. Her mother, sister and brother-in-law are jailed in prisons in China because they practice Falun Gong. Ms. Zeng said, “The CCP has been persecuting Chinese people. My family is a good example. It is a great pity that Chinese people have been living under the CCP's tyranny. I come here to help Chinese people break free from the CCP's control over their minds.”
Ms. Zeng continued, “Although some people cursed me, I still try to tell them about the persecution of my family members, and tell them not to be deceived by the CCP. Many Chinese people learned the truth, and expressed their appreciation for Falun Gong practitioners' efforts.”
