(Clearwisdom.net) Editors’ note: In both Western and Chinese culture, the principle of karmic retribution, that is, being held ultimately accountable for one's own actions, is widely accepted. The fundamental teaching of Falun Gong is the characteristic of the universe, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. The universe will reward actions that are in harmony with this principle, while actions such as beating, torturing and murdering people will incur karmic retribution. Stated another way, good deeds will be rewarded with good, while evildoings will meet due retribution. Articles such as this one are meant as a compassionate reminder of this principle to those who would commit wrongdoing. While many of those who persecute Falun Gong are merely “following orders,” the universal law requires that they, too, be held responsible for their actions, and that only by reversing their course of wrongdoing may they escape retribution.
Since the persecution of Falun Gong began in July 1999, Communist regime officials, especially those in the police force and the 610 Office, have spared no efforts in their attempts to destroy practitioners financially, physically, and psychologically. They have, however, met with retribution, and sometimes their crimes even implicated their family members. Below are a few examples.
Case 1: Police Department Section Chief and Her 14-Year-old Daughter Die of Smoke Inhalation
As an officer in the Taikang County Police Department in Zhoukou City, Henan Province, Li Yafei always actively participated in the persecution of local practitioners since July 1999. She personally issued fines, and sentenced to prison and labor camps many kindhearted practitioners, for which she was later promoted to instructor in the Domestic Security Division.
In the spring of 2000, Li and two other police officers sentenced three local practitioners to forced labor. They kept verbally abusing the practitioners en route from the police department to the labor camps in Kaifeng and Zhengzhou. When the three practitioners finished their forced labor terms, Li and her accomplice the took them straight to Taikang County Detention Center to serve additional, 13-month terms. When Domestic Security Division head Feng Jinlin tried to follow 610 Office head Zhao Qingming’s order to release these practitioners, Li stopped him and continued to hold the practitioners in custody.
After Li was promoted to section head of the resident office at the police department in 2008, she kept harassing and reporting practitioners.
Li’s home caught fire on the night of October 17, 2011, and both she and her 14-year-old daughter died of smoke inhalation. She was only 39.
Case 2: Street Committee Head’s Husband Dies of Uremia
During her tenure as head of the Renminguangchang Street Committee in the Xigang District, Dalian City, Liaoning Province, between 2004 and 2010, Hou Shujuan spared no efforts in harassing and intimidating local Falun Gong practitioners. She often dispatched people to shadow and monitor practitioners. During the 2008 Summer Olympics she also dispatched her staff to go to practitioners’ homes to harass them.
Hou retired around May 2010, at the age of 50. Her husband developed uremia earlier in her tenure and died suddenly, around the 2011 Chinese New Year. He was in his 50s.
Case 3: Son of Police Station Head Dies after Being Pinned under an Electric Bike
During his tenure as the Xinji Village Police Station head in Guan County, Shandong Province, Wang Baozhuang sentenced three practitioners to prison and seven to forced labor camps. Many others were forced to undergo brainwashing at his direction.
In addition, Wang Baozhuang colluded with Xinji Village Party head Wang Tongzhang and extorted an enormous amount of money from local practitioners. Shortly after the persecution began on July 20, 1999, they gathered all the practitioners in the village—more than 190 of them—in the village middle school and forced everyone to pay a fine of 500 yuan. They pocketed the more than 90,000 yuan themselves. They later ordered each practitioner caught going to Beijing to appeal to pay a fine of 3,000 yuan, and his or her guarantor (person who had agreed to watch over the practitioner) to pay 500 yuan.
Every time a sensitive date approached, the two Wangs kept their “target practitioners” in detention. During the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) Two Conferences in 2000, they held those practitioners for 23 days, the longest period of detention. Moreover, they often went to practitioners’ homes to harass and intimidate them.
Around 2004, while playing with an electric bike in the courtyard, Wang Baozhuang’s son got pinned under the bike and died shortly afterwards.
Case 4: 610 Office Head Contracts Stomach Cancer
An Guochen is the 610 Office head in the Youhao District of Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province. He recently developed stomach cancer, likely as retribution for his active participation in the persecution of local Falun Gong practitioners.
An often personally arrested and tortured practitioners. For instance, he once had his accomplice strip detained practitioners, pour cold water all over them, and savagely beat them.
Under An’s directive, many practitioners were sent to forced labor camps or brainwashing centers, and had their homes ransacked. Moreover, he ordered 610 Office agents Jia Changzhi and Zuojun to tap practitioners’ phones and harass them frequently. He also sent people to practitioners’ workplaces and homes to intimidate them. Many families lived in terror as a result of his relentless harassment.
When one practitioner’s father who lived in a different city was critically ill, An forbade him to go bid farewell. Another practitioner was taken away while attending an out-of-town wedding. A young man was sentenced to two years of forced labor right after his college graduation. No more than a year after his release, he was again sent to a labor camp to serve a three-year term. Even though he was finally freed, this practitioner decided to live away from home to avoid further persecution. A female practitioner was sent to a labor camp when her child was only three years old. By the time she was released, the child no longer recognized her. A female schoolteacher was sent to a brainwashing center, and her job and salary were suspended indefinitely.
