(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Hongkui passed away on August 28, 2012 because of intense persecution. His body is not even cold yet, yet his wife and son are frequently harassed by officers from the 610 Office, sub-district office, the justice bureau, and other organizations. It was said that an order was given internally during the 18th Party Congress, “One will be dismissed from one's post if a person appeals and files a complaint against him.” These people are afraid of Mr. Li's family going to Beijing to appeal.
Mr. Li was an outstanding engineer at the Harbin Post Office. Mr. Li began practicing Falun Gong in May 1994, following the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. He was given the “model worker” award at the municipal and provincial level for several consecutive years.
After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) launched the persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999, Mr. Li was illegally arrested three times and sentenced to prison twice. He spent over 10 years in prison and endured inhumane torture.
Mr. Li's family received an urgent notice from Daqing Prison on August 13, 2012. When the family arrived at the intensive care unit of the Daqing No. 4 Hospital the next morning, they saw Mr. Li's head heavily bandaged and two palm-sized bruises on Mr. Li's left calf. They also noticed a three-cm-long crack on top of Mr. Li's right ear (about 1.2 inches), as if his ear had been torn apart. A cuff was on Mr. Li's right leg, chaining him to the bed. Mr. Li was receiving intravenous fluids continuously before his heart stopped beating. His family members do not know what medication was given to him.
Mr. Li passed away on August 28, 2012, just before he was about to be discharged from the Daqing Prison after seven years of incarceration. He was only 61 years old.
Four days later two personnel from the Hongqi Sub-district Office in Daowai District went to Mr. Li's home, claiming that they received an order from the 610 Office. They asked Ms. Bai Qun, Mr. Li's wife, “Will you go out?” Ms. Bai told them her situation. She is a high-risk patient with dangerously high blood pressure, angina, and diabetes. She is disabled and needs daily living assistance.
On November 4, 2012, someone knocked on her door in the morning and in the afternoon. Ms. Bai did not respond as she was fragile and needed rest. At around 6:00 p.m. that evening, someone knocked on her door again. Seeing no one was answering, they began battering the door. The battering lasted about an hour. The noise seriously disturbed the peace of the neighbors, who scolded the people who were making all the noise. The people then left.
The next day a person, whose surname is Xia, called Mr. Li Lanqui's son, Mr. Li Xuan. The person claimed to be with the Investigation Team of the Prison Administration Division of the Daqing City Bureau of Justice. He said, “We are at Harbin now. Where are you? Bring your mom. We want to know the issue you reported.” Mr. Li said, “We submitted the written report [13 questions regarding Mr. Li Hongkui's sudden death] to the Daqing Prison and asked for a written reply from the prison. It's been so long but we haven't received a written reply. If you are sincere, you should give me a written reply first—then we can talk about other things. Perhaps you have something in writing but don't want to give it to us? What are you afraid of? My mom is not feeling well now. She cannot see you.”
Xia: “Where are you and your mother? Tell us and we'll come over.”
Li: “I think I made myself clear. We do not want to meet you. My mom is not comfortable mentioning this.”
Xia: “Where is your mother then? Can we meet your mother? Is your mother in the hospital or at home?”
Li: “It's not important where she is. She wants to avoid mentioning things that make her angry. I'm the same.”
Xia: “You are an educated person. Can we meet and talk?”
Li: “I don't want to meet. I just want to take good care of my mom.”
Xia: “So you do not want to see us?”
On November 7, personnel from the Hongqi Sub-district Office called again, “We found out that you bought train tickets to Beijing. Don't go. You will be sent back if you're seized.”
These personnel or officials do not care about the people. The only thing they truly care about is their positions.
Ms. Bai called several relatives for help.
