(Minghui.org) Several government officials who have been responsible for the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners have recently met with retribution for their evil deeds. As a result, some practitioners began showing keen interest in changes in secular affairs reported on the Internet and in other media, and developed the attachment to zealotry, lowered their guard on security, waited for Falun Dafa to be redressed, and exhibited other human attachments.
The progress of Fa-rectification is an actual manifestation of revered Master leading disciples to rectify the Fa, which is done by gods. The changes in the human world are only a reaction in the human world reflecting the changes in the higher levels of the cosmos. Everything comes into being amidst the Fa-rectification, Dafa disciples' solid cultivation, and saving sentient beings. Dafa disciples are playing the main role, and the world's people play the supporting roles. How can we be confused about this?
There have been many lessons regarding our attachments to human affairs in the past. Master said,
"A little while back a lot of students were thinking: 'The CCP is going to hold its 16th Congress soon. If that head demon in China, that wretch of the earth, steps down, then won't our Dafa's good name be restored? Who'd want to inherit that burden, and who'd be as stupid as it is?' That kind of thinking isn't wrong in the ordinary society, but it's not right for a cultivator. With a Dafa like this, how could so many magnificent future Gods, magnificent Dafa disciples, who've been forged through Dafa cultivation put their hope in some ordinary person? Aren't we insulting ourselves? Could human beings control Gods? But a lot of our Dafa disciples were thinking that way. It's not a big deal if one person thinks that way, and it's not a big deal if two people think that way--that's just their personal cultivation issue. But if everybody thinks that way, then what kind of situation will there be among the larger group of Dafa disciples? It'll be a major disruption, a strong attachment, and that can't be allowed. I saw it, and the old forces saw it, too. The old forces thought, 'Wait a minute, what's this?' So they made the outcome of the CCP's 16th Congress worse."
"As I've said, everything that happens today in the ordinary society is the result of Dafa disciples' thoughts. Even though the old forces do exist, if you don't have those thoughts they can't do anything. When your righteous thoughts are strong enough the old forces can't do a thing. If someone in ordinary society really did restore our Dafa's name, think about it, maybe human beings will do this, but have you thought about this: how high would I have to position that person? Isn't that right? You're cultivators, and all changes come from your cultivation and the Fa-rectification; everything that you yourselves validate and enlighten to, and everything that you'll receive, all this comes from what you have done on your path. Absolutely don't think about any favors the old forces might do for us, or about how the ordinary society might help us. You are the ones saving the ordinary people's society, and you are the ones saving sentient beings!" (“Teaching the Fa at the 2002 Fa Conference in Philadelphia, U.S.A.”)
Similar lessons abound. Besides the lessons in our personal cultivation, there are attachments to historical prophecies, the 2008 Olympic Games, speculation, and waiting for the death of Jiang, etc. These attachments stem from a lack of righteous thoughts or looking outward using human thoughts, which lead to unfavorable results in saving sentient beings.
The old forces' arrangements are to display things to human beings according to their plans. Revered Master allows them to display a bit, which plays a role of alerting the world's people so that they can be saved. As for historical prophecies, or changes in worldly affairs, Master has broken through them in the Fa-rectification. No one is able to see all that Master has arranged. So we Dafa disciples should only steadfastly do well the three things, and not let our hearts waver. Everything is manifested as we follow Master in the Fa-rectification. It is not our purpose to change ordinary society. Instead our grand vow is to save sentient beings.
Master said,
“There once was a person who became an Arhat after much effort in cultivation. As he was just about to attain Right Fruit in cultivation and become an Arhat, how could he not be happy? He was going to transcend the Three Realms! Yet this excitement is an attachment, an attachment of elation. An Arhat should be free of attachments, with a heart that cannot be affected. But he failed, and his cultivation ended up in vain. Since he failed, he had to start all over again. He resumed his cultivation, and after much painstaking effort he again succeeded in his cultivation. This time he became scared and reminded himself in his mind: 'I shouldn’t get excited. Otherwise, I’ll fail again.' With this fear, he failed again. Fear is also a kind of attachment.” (Lecture Six, Zhuan Falun)
As the progress of Fa-rectification pushes forward, it is inevitable that our personal cultivation will come to a conclusion, which is the most critical moment of our cultivation journey. How we walk toward that moment that we have long awaited with a divine mindset--isn't that a serious matter?
