(Minghui.org) From April 3-4, 2012, Shen Yun Performing Arts New York Company presented three sold-out performances in the Chiayi Performing Art Center. More than 2,700 audience members were able to experience the wonder and amazement of this world-class performing arts company.

Violin Instructor: Shen Yun Inspires the World's People
Among the appreciative audience were Tseng Che-Nan, an internationally-renowned violin instructor and former Manhattan School of Music professor stationed in South-eastern Asia, and his wife, an art teacher. Mr. Tseng marveled at the Shen Yun's original ideas and innovative way of expressions, and believed that Shen Yun is an inspiration for the world's people.
“Magnificent, I admire the whole production,” said Mr. Tseng. “Shen Yun does a fantastic job in combining traditional, classic culture and elements of modern technology. There may be a very special person, I have been thinking, why Shen Yun is able to create such a unique performance and way of presentation. The last piece, the grand finale Before Disaster, the Divine is Rescuing, the Buddha bounced the meteor back to the sky, which depicts Buddha rescuing mankind. With this one movement the audience can understand the deeper meanings.”
He appreciated the coordination of the backdrop and the movement of dancers, “There seems to be a traditional Chinese way of thinking in the choreography. The movements of the dancers match with the backdrops, the lighting, and everything comes alive. When a person in the backdrop becomes a real person on the stage, the transition and the coordination of the artists was smooth and lively. The visual effect was both aesthetic and dynamic.”
He was also highly impressed by the backdrop technology, “I carefully observed the pictures on the backdrop and I believe that the person who designed it paid a lot of attention to it. The angles from which the scenes were captured (composed) are the exact right angles. If they were a little bit off, the outcomes would not be as perfect.”
Mrs. Tseng was also taken with the performance, saying, “Every artist has a very positive and upright temperament. I don't see many young people like them nowadays. The program is very compact and the stories are interesting. I was drawn to every piece and always expected to see something different and surprising. I could not take my eyes off the stage.”
Mrs. Tseng was amazed at Shen Yun's use of the color, which she described it as the work of a genius. “There are spots of bright dazzling colors used among the softer tones. With the artists' soft and graceful motions, Shen Yun made me see the essence of traditional Chinese culture.”
Mrs. Tseng particularly enjoyed the performance of the erhu player. “I am moved at a very deep level. The artist must have a superb artistic attainment to be able to do that. The spiritual level of a musician is very important because it comes from her heart.”
General Hospital President: Goodness Will Definitely Triumph Over Evil
Bin-An Wu, president of Potz General Hospital, his wife and eight friends, were first-time attendees at a Shen Yun performance at the Chiayi Performing Arts Center. They praised the performance for its excitement and surprises.

With a joyful spirit, Mr. Wu said, “I was in awe. I could have never imagined such high-tech animated backdrops, and on top of that, it had successfully integrated with traditional Chinese culture, classics and arts. To my astonishment, I did not realize there was an orchestra pit until the very end. It was a live orchestra with a combination of Western and classical Chinese instruments. It was truly a musical extravaganza.”
Mr. Wu said he was lost in wonderment with the overwhelming feeling from the first number, An Era Begins. And to top it off, the last piece, Before Disaster, The Divine is Rescuing took the wonderment to an even higher level Mr. Wu said. The entire production was done with professionalism, with diligence and with a lot of attention to detail, he added.
He was deeply impressed with the messages conveyed in the performance: “Good will eventually defeat evil. All the programs in the performance could make every one of us connect with our inner goodness, allowing us to make better judgments in the face of right and wrong. … The performance was positive, extremely positive for the entire society.”
Certified Wood Sculptor: Shen Yun Has Deeply Inspired Me in My Artistic Creation
Mr. Chipei Kao, the only person in Chiayi who has won Taiwan’s National Woodcarving Craftsman Certificate, said after attending the Shen Yun performance, “Shen Yun performed so well, and its class is extraordinarily high. I was very touched; it’s my first time to see such a fabulous performance.”

As a woodcarving teacher at prisons in Chiayi, Yunlin, and Changhua Counties, Mr. Kao often combines wood sculpting with local culture to tell stories and enlighten inmates through the medium of sculpture. Mr. Kao said that he had once carved the Monkey King and often used woodcarving to remind inmates not to bully others, or else they would never escape the Buddha’s palm. For this reason, he was most impressed by the dances How the Monkey King Came to Be, and Crazy Ji Saves the Day.
“I think that Shen Yun really deserves its reputation, as the performance is really exquisite, and it has reached the highest realm of arts. It has also deeply inspired me, and ushered my artistic creation into a higher dimension,” Mr. Kao said.
Mr. Kao was impressed with the overall performance, including the dynamic backdrops, musical accompaniment, dances, costumes, and the songs sung by the vocalists. He especially praised the piece Before Disaster, the Divine Is Rescuing. In this dance, the good are spared from a calamity. “I'll definitely come back to see Shen Yun next year, and bring more family members and friends. I hope that more and more people will come to see the Shen Yun performance every year.”
Visitor from China: Shen Yun Is China's Hope
Mr. Lu (pseudonym) and his wife had come from China to Taiwan exclusively to see the Shen Yun performance. Mrs. Lu said after the performance, “I was especially impressed with the last piece Before Disaster, The Divine Is Rescuing. It was indeed very sacred. Shen Yun presents the traditional beauty. As the moral standard in mainland China is declining due to the dying out of the traditional culture, Shen Yun is definitely China’s hope.” Mr. Lu added, “Shen Yun ushered us into the realm of the traditional culture. Gods have come to the human world, mankind has hope, absolutely!”
Mrs. Lu said, “Though we encountered many difficulties traveling to Taiwan this time, nevertheless, we have realized our wish. Perhaps we won’t be able to go overseas any more after returning to China, but we will never feel regretful about coming to watch Shen Yun. It was really worthwhile.”
“Shen Yun is indeed amazing. After seeing the Shen Yun performance, I feel especially tranquil and peaceful,” said Mrs. Lu.
Mr. Lu added, “From the very beginning of the Shen Yun program, we seemed to enter a divine world, and I was moved to tears instantly. It is by all means worthwhile.”
“All of us are looking forward to seeing Shen Yun perform in China some day. It is our sincere wish,” Mrs. Lu concluded.
