(Minghui.org) I was teaching in a senior high school at the time. During the winter holiday period, around January 16, 2001, the school administration gathered us together and made some arrangements for the winter holiday.
After the meeting, the principal called another Falun Gong practitioner and myself to his office and said, “The director of the Education Bureau wants to have a talk with you both, let's go together.” Upon arriving at the Education Bureau, a deputy director met with us. What he said was basically that, during the Chinese New Year we shouldn't go out. If we wanted to go to some faraway place, then we should inform them. The point that I remembered most clearly was: in order to emphasize the seriousness of our not going outside, this deputy director said, “Some people want to go to Tiananmen Square to set themselves on fire. You absolutely must not participate!” When I heard her say that I was dumbfounded. Why would they want to set themselves on fire? I asked, “Where did you hear of this?” He replied, “The police came over and said so.” I felt very doubtful that the police would know of people who wanted to set themselves on fire before they actually did so. If the police were aware that there were people who wanted to set themselves on fire, an act which harms and mutilates oneself, and which doesn't do oneself nor society any good, then the police ought to prevent and stop such an act. I was very clear that a genuine Falun Dafa practitioner would never go and harm or mutilate him or herself. So, even though I felt doubtful, I didn't take it to heart.
On the night of January 27, 2001, the television news suddenly broadcasted reports of a group self-immolation that took place at Tiananmen Square. It had apparently occurred on January 23. Moreover, the reports specifically stated that the self-immolators were Falun Gong practitioners (which was all part of the set-up and not true). At the time I was shocked and suddenly remembered what the director had told me several days before. I was clear that the whole thing was a set-up. If the police had known about the self-immolation in advance, then why didn't they try to stop it? They allowed it to occur, and even prepared a video camera to take clear, close footage and had slogans for the actors to shout. (Of course, those slogans do not conform to the principles of Falun Gong.) The intention behind all of this was to frame and undermine Falun Gong, as well as to incite hatred and force those who weren't clear on the truth to hate Falun Gong. It was all set up in order for the CCP to have an excuse to persecute Falun Gong. This also proves that the Tiananmen self-immolation was a hoax.
What is false is just that, false. Paper cannot contain fire. No matter how clever the deception, it will be exposed in time. In this case, the deceit is full of loopholes. Clear-minded people were able to see that it was all an act from a variety of different angles. At my school, one teacher said, “CCTV has a very strict approval system but yet the self-immolation video was broadcasted within three days.” After she spoke with another practitioner and I about the self-immolation hoax, she said, “The CCP an outright evil cult!”
