Changchun Police Trying to Collect Evidence Against Mr. Li Wei

(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa Practitioner Mr. Li Wei has been held in the Changchun City No. 3 Detention Center for over 100 days. He is emaciated and his blood potassium is low, which can lead to weak muscles and heart problems. He developed the same symptoms when he was detained a few years ago.

Mr. Li is 45 years old. He managed a computer store in the Bainaohui Shopping Square in Changchun City for many years. Prior to that, he worked in the Jilin Branch Office of the Bank of China.

Cured When Practicing Falun Gong, But Persecuted

Mr. Li had poor health even when he was of a young age, and he was diagnosed with hepatitis B in 1994. Although he was hospitalized for a long time, his health didn't improve.

In 1997, Mr. Li began to practice Falun Dafa. His health improved and the hepatitis went away without any medical treatment.

When the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to persecute Falun Dafa, Mr. Li was fired by his company. He was taken to forced labor camps many times because he persisted in talking to people about Falun Dafa in order to dispel the CCP's constant slander of the practice. He also told people how his health was restored after cultivating in Falun Dafa and that he would not renounce the practice.

Mr. Li was illegally arrested at home again on June 2, 2013 by officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Changchun Police Department and the Economic and Technology Development District Police Department. He was held in the Changchun No. 3 Detention Center.

The police confiscated goods in Mr. Li’s store, ostensibly to use as “evidence” against him. However, this so-called evidence was not accepted by the Economic and Technology Development District Procuratorate. The police are still trying to frame and prosecute Mr. Li and are trying to collect more evidence.

Hiring an Attorney

Mr. Li's family was outraged at the CCP's persecution of innocent people. They demanded that the police release Mr. Li. They hired an attorney, but the police first refused the family and the attorney access to Mr.Li. Only after continued protests by both family and attorney, did the police agree that they could meet with Mr. Li.

Mr. Li had 20,000 yuan on him when he was arrested. The police claimed that the money was to be used for making Falun Dafa informational materials and confiscated it, refusing to give a receipt. So far, the money has not been returned. The police have verbally abused family members when they asked for Mr. Li’s release.

The pretrial department of the Economic and Technological Development District Police Department is trying find additional evidence they can use against Mr. Li.
