(Minghui.org) I am a Dafa disciple outside of China and I'd like to point out one problem I've observed recently. Quite a few practitioners I know seem to be doing Dafa projects for the sake of fame. They seek out high-impact projects that they feel will give them more “credit and virtue,” but decline those that seem less impactful or influential.
As I see it, the so-called “credit and virtue” these practitioners are after is not cultivators' mighty virtue at all, but instead their attachments to fame. Doing Dafa projects has been reduced to a vehicle for them to gain status and popularity in the community of cultivators.
These practitioners even get jealous of or alienated from each other as they fight for high-impact projects. They look down on people they think are inferior to them. Instead of saving sentient beings, they are mired in their pursuit of fame.
Master said in “In One Thought” (Hong Yin II) :
“Attaining credit and virtue is of no concern Rectifying heaven, rectifying earth, rectifying all beings”
The Lord Buddha of the universe, Master, doesn't care a bit for attaining credit and virtue. So why haven't these practitioners enlightened to the purpose of doing Dafa projects?
When we help each other improve our xinxing and work together to get the three things done well, we are truly assisting Master with the Fa-rectification and we will naturally attain credit and virtue.
If we only want to do our favorite projects and fight to stand out among practitioners, we are effectively submitting to demonic control and losing ourselves. How can we establish our mighty virtue like that?
Those obsessed with attaining more virtue are people who still harbor human notions. Not only can they not gain any virtue, but they are also undermining the Fa.
I've read on Minghui that practitioners inside China also have similar problems. One article entitled “ Overcoming All Attachments in Cultivation ” talked about the author's experience:
“...Then when I searched even deeper within, I found another attachment. I've always felt that project was important and one could gain more mighty virtue. I also found that I had the thought of “becoming famous” in Dafa cultivation. Therefore, unknowingly, I treated all the projects that I worked on as places to fight for fame and gain. All my attachments and bad desires were completely exposed. Fairly speaking, those attachments were even dirtier than those of ordinary people.”
Master taught us in “Fa-Lecture During the 2003 Lantern Festival at the U.S. West Fa Conference,”
“Pursue nothing and gain naturally! All the things that Dafa disciples are doing today are in fact the responsibilities that have been bestowed upon you by history. Just do what you should do openly and with dignity, and everything will be covered. (Applause) As long as you're thinking about wanting to Consummate you won't be able to Consummate...”
I urge everyone to do the three things earnestly and cultivate our xinxing solidly. If we just pay lip service without facing our attachments, we are unknowingly sabotaging the Fa.
