Additional Persecution News from China – October 18, 2013 (11 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents about persecution that took place in 11 cities or counties in 9 provinces. In this report, 8 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 9 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Wei Jun Transferred from Prison to Brainwashing Center

Ms. Wei Jun was a teacher at the Daqing City No. 65 Middle school. She was sentenced to prison by the Honggang District Court for practicing Falun Gong and incarcerated in the Heilongjiang Provincial Women’s Prison for 5 years.

Upon the completion of her term on August 27, 2013, 610 Office agents transferred her to the Mishan City Brainwashing Center, because she refused to renounce her faith. She has now been transferred to the Jixi City Brainwashing Center.

2. [Kunming City, Yunnan Province] Ms. Li Yanyun Arrested

Ms. Li Yanyun, who is retired, was handing out informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong when police arrested her on the afternoon of September 07, 2013. Police ransacked her home the same day. Ms. Li was released that evening.

3. [Xianning City, Hubei Province] Mr. Lei Dongyuan Taken to Brainwashing Center

Mr. Lei Dongyuan, 63, was arrested at home on October 16, 2013, by agents from the local 610 Office. He was taken to a brainwashing center in Wuhan City.

4. [Chongqing] Ms. Wang Ya Disappeared after Being Persecuted in Detention

Ms. Wang Ya was persecuted in the Chongqing Women’s Detention Center. She left the center on the afternoon of September 17, 2013, and is now missing.

5. [Yongxing County, Hunan Province] Mr. Tie Gua Taken to Brainwashing Center

Members of the Yongxing 610 Office, Domestic Security Division, and the Political and Legal Affairs Committee barged into Mr. Tie Gua's home on the morning of October 17, 2013, and arrested him. Mr. Tie, who works at the Xiangyong Coal Mine, was taken to the Longxing Brainwashing Center in Yongxing County.

6. [Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Liu Yuying Arrested

Ms. Liu Yuying was arrested on October 15, 2013.

7. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Chen Longzhi Taken to Brainwashing Center

Liu Zuobao and other agents from the Hanting District 610 Office have repeatedly harassed and threatened Ms. Chen Longzhi from Nanbuzi Village since the spring of 2013. They tried to arrest her many times, but didn't succeed. However, on October 10, 2013, they took her into custody while she was on her way to work and then took her to the Zhuli Brainwashing Center in Hanting District.

8. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Three Practitioners Sentenced to Prison

The Erdao District Court in Changchun City held a secret trial to sentence Mr. Jiang Tao, Ms. Liu Yanjun and Ms. Liu Yanchun to prison on April 25, 2013. Mr. Jiang was sentenced to 3 years, while Ms. Liu Yanjun and Ms. Liu Yanchun were given 2-year sentences. The practitioners appealed to the Changchun City Intermediate Court; however, this court ruled to uphold original verdicts on September 22, 2013.

9. [Beijing] Ms. Zhang Huiyun Detained

Ms. Zhang Huiyun of Daxing District was arrested for handing out informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was then transferred from the Jiugong Police Station to the Tuanhe Detention Center.

10. [Weihui City, Henan Province] Ms. Li Yulan Taken to Brainwashing Center

Deputy Party secretary of the Weihui Political and Legal Affairs Committee (surname Cao) and agents from the 610 Office followed Ms. Li Yulan to her workplace, where she worked as a babysitter, on the evening of October 15, 2013. They trapped her in the house and then took her to a brainwashing center.

11. [Ningcheng County, Inner Mongolia] Four Practitioners Detained

Mr. Liu Zhong from Lamachengzi Village, Sanzuodian Township, is over 50 years old. He was arrested while farming in his field on the afternoon of September 7, 2013. Police ransacked his home and confiscated all of his Falun Gong books, a radio device and other items.

Mr. Liu is being held in the Ningcheng County Detention Center. Ms. Liu Huiyun, Ms. Wang Guihua and Mr. Zhu Zhiguo are also being held there.
