(Minghui.org) Mr. Jiang Zonglin, former director of Yuanming Architecture Research Institute in Chendu, and his daughter, Ms. Jiang Zhujun, were detained in the Xinjin Brainwashing Center for nearly a year and nine months. Their family hired four human rights lawyers.
Mr. Jiang's family and three lawyers went to the brainwashing center to see Mr. Jiang and his daughter on the afternoon of September 16, 2013. Staff at the brainwashing center called the police. In the end, the lawyers were allowed only to have a quick glance at Mr. Jiang and his daughter through a small window near the side door.
Four lawyers submitted lawsuit documents to Chengdu Procuratorate on September 17. The next day, they handed in complaint letters to the Chengdu Political and Legal Affairs Committee and the Chengdu Disciplinary Committee.
The lawyers and Mr. Jiang's relatives were stopped on their way there and questioned several times by the police.
Mr. Jiang Zonglin's five-year jail term expired on October 15, 2012, but he was taken directly to Xinjin Brainwashing Center by agents from the Jinniu District 610 Office and the Fuqin Residential Committee.
On December 22, 2012, Mr. Jiang's wife, daughter, and brother went to Xinjin Brainwashing Center. They requested the release of Mr. Jiang. Yin Shunyao, the head of the brainwashing center, along with Jinniu District 610 Office personnel, tricked Mr. Jiang's wife and daughter by letting them enter the building and then detaining them. The brainwashing center force-fed Ms. Jiang Zhujun after she held a hunger strike.
Violent force-feeding is used in Xinjin Brainwashing Center to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. Mr. Jiang's wife was released in April 2013. However, before she was released she was threatened, “Don't contact Falun Gong. If you don't cooperate, we will arrest you again at any time.”
When the couple's relatives appealed, they were also threatened. The 610 Office sent officials from the Residential Committee of Mr. Jiang's relatives' area to warn them, “Don't have any contact with their family. We will come here without notice to check up on you.”
