Besides working, she does the chores at home and takes care of the elderly in her family. She was an administrative manager at the Hi-Show PV Science & Technology in Shanghai before she was arrested.

Officers from the Xuhui District Police Department's Domestic Security Division and the Huajing Police Station arrested Ms. Zhao on the morning of May 30, 2013. They also ransacked her home. Fourteen officers participated in the arrest.

Ms. Zhao was arrested for sending 15 Falun Gong truth clarification articles in the QQ chatting community. These articles were forwarded by others more than 400 times. She also gave two co-workers DVD's of the Shen Yun performance. The arrest warrant was issued on July 5, 2013, and Ms. Zhao was charged with promoting Falun Gong and “using a heretical organization to undermine the implementation of law.”

Ms. Zhao has been detained for over four months and is facing sentencing.

Ms. Zhao has been repeatedly harassed and persecuted for practicing Falun Gong during the past 14 years, and not all of her persecution has been documented.
