Additional Persecution News from China – September 20, 2013 (11 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in nine cities or counties in six provinces. In this report, six Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 11 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Yilan County, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Zuo Zhenqi and Ms. Liu Fengcheng Taken to Jiamusi Prison

1. [Yilan County, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Zuo Zhenqi and Ms. Liu Fengcheng Taken to Jiamusi Prison

Mr. Zuo Zhenqi from Yilan County and Ms. Liu Fengcheng from Boli County, Harbin City were taken to the Jiamusi Prison on the morning of September 18, 2013.

2. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhou Yulan Arrested

We have learned that Ms. Zhou Yulan from Huadian, 59, was arrested by agents from the court on September 11, 2013. Her whereabouts are unknown.

3. [Li County, Hebei Province] Ms. He Xia and Ms. Zhai Yaning Detained

Gui Lin, the head of the Wangzhuang Villager's Committee, reported Ms. He Xia and Ms. Zhai Yaning from Li County for talking to people about Falun Gong in Wangzhuang(Chengnan) on September 17, 2013. Agents from the Li County 610 Office subsequently took them to the police department, then to the Li County Detention Center. Ms. He and Ms. Zhai are on a protest hunger strike.

4. [Tianjin] Mr. Wang Guiqi Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Wang Guiqi from Tanggu District was sentenced in secret to four and a half years in prison by the Tanggu Court on July 29, 2013. His lawyer filed an appeal on August 2.

5. [Kunming City, Yunnan Province] Ms. Jiang Yunnan and Ms. Miao Qing Sentenced to Prison

The Kunming Intermediate People's Court sentenced Ms. Jiang Yunnan to three years in prison and Ms. Miao Qing to four years at their first hearing on December 17, 2012. Both Ms. Jiang and Ms. Miao filed appeals to a higher court.

The Yunnan Provincial Higher People's Court upheld the decision on May 22, 2013. Ms. Jiang was sent to the Yunnan Provincial No.1 Prison on July 30. Ms. Miao was permitted to serve her sentence outside of prison due to having high blood pressure.

6. [Chongqing] Ms. Liao Yuzhi Arrested

Ms. Liao Yuzhi was arrested by plainclothes officers on September 16, 2013 when she was out with another practitioner talking to people about Falun Gong. Her home was also ransacked.

7. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Mr. Gu Changyu Held in Detention Center

Mr. Gu Changyu was arrested at home by five or six officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Changchun City Police Department on September 13, 2013. Officers confiscated a desktop computer, a laptop computer, two printers, all his Falun Gong books, informational materials about Falun Gong and 5,500 yuan cash. Mr. Gu's younger sister tried to stop the officers, who then beat her and bruised her arm. Mr. Gu is being held in the Weizigou Detention Center. Family visits are not permitted.

8. [Leshan City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Tong Jiang and His Wife Arrested

Mr. Tong Jiang and his wife Ms. Wang Ou were recently arrested by officers from the Leshan City Police Department Zhong District Branch for talking about Falun Gong in public. They were taken to the Dashiqiao Brainwashing Center in Leshan City. Their home was ransacked and their Falun Gong books and photos of Mr. Li Hongzhi (the founder of Falun Gong) were confiscated.

9. [Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Xuan Xiaomei and Ms. Zhang Weimin Arrested

Ms. Zhang Weimin from Huguan Town and Ms. Xuan Xiaomei from Tongan Town were arrested on the morning of September 19, 2013 by Jinshi Town police when they were clarifying the truth about Falun Gong to the public in Jinshi Town. It is believed that Ms. Xuan was taken to the Tongan Police Station and Ms. Zhang was taken to the Hushuguan Police Station.

10. [Nanbu County, Sichuan Province] Ms. Liang Shurong and Two Other Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Liang Shurong from Dahe Town, Nanbu County was arrested on September 15, 2013 when she went to a market fair in Fuhu Town. She was taken to the Nanbu County Detention Center. Ms. Liu Weibi and Mr. Liang Pan also from Nanbu County were arrested the same day in Fuyi Town, Yanting County.

11. [Changchu City, Jilin Province] Ms. Wang Liyan Arrested

Ms. Wang Liyan was arrested by officers from the Ziqiangjie Police Station on the morning of September 19, 2013. She was taken to the Shuangyang No.3 Detention Center in Changchun City.
