Mr. Song Yusheng Sent to Prison Just 17 Days After Arrest

(Minghui.org) Mr. Song Yusheng from Jimo City, Shandong Province, was illegally arrested on August 11, 2013, for his faith in Falun Gong. Just a few days later, he was sentenced to three and a half years in prison by the Jimo City Court. Mr. Song was taken to Jinan Prison on August 28. The entire process, from his arrest to his sentencing and imprisonment, only took 17 days.

Mr. Song's family went to Jinan Prison on September 10, 2013, and requested to see Mr. Song. The guards would not allow it, claiming that he was emaciated and couldn't walk.

The guards asked the family if Mr. Song had any heart problems. Mr. Song had been very healthy prior to the arrest. In just a month of being arrested, however, he was persecuted to the point of having signs of a serious illness.

Secret, Illegal Trial

The whole process of Mr. Song's arrest and sentencing didn't comply with any legal procedure. Mr. Song's family and lawyer were also not informed of the trial.

On August 18, 2013, the family went to Jimo Court to inquire about Mr. Song's case. Judge Zhou Jihong refused to tell them the date of the trial and forced them out of her office.

When the family asked the judge which law Mr. Song had broken and was being prosecuted for, she said, “Using a heretical organization to undermine the implementation of law.” The Chinese communist regime has unlawfully used this fabricated claim to sentence thousands of Falun Gong practitioners.

Mr. Song's family has submitted an appeal to Qingdao City Intermediate Court, demanding Mr. Song's immediate and unconditional release. They also requested that judge Zhou Jihong be investigated for criminal misconduct, and that Mr. Song be compensated for economic losses, psychological suffering, and legal costs.

Persecuted for Over a Decade

Mr. Song, 62, from Donglu Village, Tianheng Town, Jimo City, has been persecuted for his belief in Falun Gong for over a decade.

In 2002, Communist Party Secretary of Donglu Village Song Yancheng colluded with officers from the Tianheng Police Station to have Mr. Song monitored. One day in the spring of 2003, Mr. Song distributed informational materials about Falun Gong in the village. Song Yancheng reported him to the Tianheng Police Station the following day; he told the police to check the surveillance camera.
