Additional Persecution News from China – November 01, 2013 (10 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 9 cities or counties in 6 provinces. In this report, 7 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 7 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Shanghai] Mr. Zhao Bin Tortured to Death

Mr. Zhao Bin from Shandong Province was arrested on April 27, 2013 by police from the Jiangsulu Police Station in Changning District, Shanghai and was taken to the Changning District Detention Center.

Mr. Zhao was sentenced to four years in prison on July 11, 2013. He was transferred to Tilanqiao Jail on September 3, 2013. Mr. Zhao died as a result of torture and abuse on October 19, 2013. The jail cremated his body on October 24, 2013.

2. [Beijing] Mr. Wang Zicheng and His Wife Ms. Zhang Aiping Arrested

Mr. Wang Zicheng and his wife Ms. Zhang Aiping were arrested on the morning of October 30, 2013. They were taken to the Pinggu Detention Center. Mr. Wang cannot walk and will most likely be transferred to a district hospital.

Before this incident, Mr. Wang was arrested twice and was jailed for a total of 7 years in the Qianjin Prison. He was forced to sit on a stool for extended periods of time which damaged his ischial arch nerve and he was unable to walk for over two years. Ms. Zhang was also sentenced to four years in prison, from 2005 to 2008.

3. [Beijing] Ms. Chen Shulan Arrested

Ms. Chen Shulan of Changping district in Beijing was held in the Gongan Hospital in Chaoyang District. She has been tortured to the point of becoming bedridden.

4. [Yanji City, Jilin Province] Ms. Rui Kerong Sentenced to Three Years in Prison

Ms. Rui Kerong was arrested last year by Yanji Domestic Security Division. She is very weak now due to the abuse she suffered in detention. Her family requested her release on medical grounds. The request was denied due to the intervention of the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture 610 Office and the Yanji City Court. The Yanji City Court sentenced Ms. Rui to three years in prison at the end of August 2013.

5. [Bangbu City, Anhui Province] Ms. Liu Xia and Ms. Zhu Guoxia Arrested

Ms. Liu Xia and Ms. Zhu Guoxia from Bangbu City were arrested on the morning of October 28, 2013 while they were out telling people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Agents from the Domestic Security Division including director Wang Shanguo followed and arrested them. Their houses were searched and the two are now being held at Bangbu City No. 2 Detention Center.

6. [Eshan County, Yunnan Province] Mr. Li Kequan Arrested

Mr. Li Kequan, a teacher at the Wenming Primary School in Eshan County, Yuxi City, was reported to the police by a student's parents for using money with facts about Falun Gong written on it. Members of the Eshan County Domestic Security Division arrested him on April 25, 2013. He was later sent to the Eshan County Detention Center and has been held there since then.

7. [Tonghua City, Jilin Province] Mr. Song Dianjie, Mr. Hu Song and Mr. Yang Fujun Arrested

Mr. Song Dianjie, Mr. Hu Song and Mr. Yang Fujun were taken to the Hejia Hotel Brainwashing Center on October 29, 2013.

8. [Mian County, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Chen Qing and Mr. Wang Hanbin Held in Detention Center

Ms. Chen Qing and Mr. Wang Hanbin were arrested on September 27, 2013. They are being held in the Mian County Detention Center.

9. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Yang Chenghuan Arrested

Mr. Yang Chenghuan, arrested on October 15, 2013, and is being held at the Nangou Detention Center.

10. [Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province] Mr. Ma Mingjie Arrested

Mr. Ma Mingjie from the Nanjing City No.14 Institute is being held at the Gulou District Brainwashing Center in Nanjing City. He has been forced to view propaganda materials defaming Falun Gong.
