(Minghui.org) Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Wei Jun was taken to the Mishan Brainwashing Center on August 27, 2013, after serving a five-year prison term. She was tortured during her imprisonment and in the brainwashing center. Ms. Wei was threatened because she refused to give up Falun Gong.

Mr. Zhang Yutang was beaten at the Mishan Brainwashing Center in August 2011, when he visited his nephew's wife, and charged with “endangering public affairs.” The lawsuit against Mr. Zhang was dismissed.

Mishan Brainwashing Center was opened in 2010 for one reason, to “transform” Falun Gong practitioners.

Practitioners have been arrested and taken to the brainwashing center, where the staff used torture, including beatings, intimidation, extortion, and alienation to force practitioners to “transform.”

Ms. Wei Taken to the Mishan Brainwashing Center

Ms. Wei Jun, a teacher at the No. 65 Middle School in Daqing, was sentenced to a five-year prison term to be served in the Heilongjiang Women's Prison. She was not “transformed” while in prison, so she was taken to the Mishan Brainwashing Center on August 27, 2013, instead of being released.

The guards at Mishan Brainwashing Center demanded that Ms. Wei sign a guarantee statement promising to renounce Falun Gong. When she refused, she was threatened: “If you don't sign your name, we will cut you open, harvest your organs, and sell them.”

Ms. Wei was kept awake for three days and nights. She was beaten and hung up by her handcuffed wrists for a week. She began a hunger strike to protest her imprisonment and torture.

Mr. Zhang Yutang Beaten and Five Ribs Broken

Mr. Zhang Yutang, 59, a carpenter from Tiexi Village, went to visit his nephew's wife at the brainwashing center in Mishan on August 12, 2011.

Mr. Zhang was detained and then Chen Jinlei and four other employees of that center beat him, breaking five ribs on Mr. Zhang's left side.

Mr. Zhang was charged with “endangering public affairs” and taken to court on December 12, 2011.

Mr. Zhang's defense attorney pointed out that the so-called Mishan Law Education School (Mishan Brainwashing Center) was neither a state sanctioned department nor a legitimate school, because it had not been inspected and approved by the education department. In addition, it was not listed publicly and hence was not a legally-recognized institution. Therefore, there could be no crime of “endangering public affairs.”

The lawsuit was eventually dismissed.

The lawyer pointed to Article 8 in “Legislation Law” and Article 9 in “Administrative Punishment Law” that state that mandatory restriction of personal freedom and punishment can only be carried out according to law. Only the National Standing Committee is granted that right. No other entity has that right.
