(Minghui.org) Many Falun Gong practitioners went missing after they went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice and after they told others about Falun Gong. The sorrow and pain that the persecution has visited upon these families is immeasurable.
Mr. Sun Biao, a practitioner from Huanggang City, Hubei Province, went to Beijing to appeal on September 19, 1999, and has been missing ever since. The local 610 Office fined him 3,000 yuan in late 1999. His family paid the fine but did not get to see him. They asked the 610 Office and other government agencies about him, but never got an answer.
Illnesses Disappeared after Practicing Falun Gong
Born in Jiangsu Province, Mr. Sun served in the army for several years before working as an electrician at Huanggang City Water Supply Company in Hubei Province. Because he worked long hours underground standing in water, he developed many health problems such as severe schistosomiasis (blood fluke parasites).
He searched everywhere to find a cure and tried many things, but nothing worked. Although he was only in his 40s, doctors said Mr. Sun's illnesses were incurable and told his family to prepare for his death.
In 1994, someone told him about Falun Gong. He did not believe it at first, but decided to try. He was surprised that all his illnesses disappeared soon afterward, and he was very happy. In addition, by following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, Mr. Sun became more easygoing and often gladly helped others.
Practicing Falun Gong also helped improve Mr. Sun’s performance at work. Even though he only had a middle school education, he was able to solve many difficult engineering problems.
When the water supply company added another branch, he traveled a long distance and volunteered to work long hours every day to finish the work. Some of the electrical work required technicians to work outdoors and climb to great heights. Many technicians were scared of heights, but Mr. Sun always unhesitatingly accepted the assignments and completed them in a short time.
It was hard to imagine all these difficult tasks were done by someone who had been on the verge of death. In addition to doing well at work, Mr. Sun also became very selfless. Once the company gave out eggs to employees as an award. After noticing he had been given extra eggs by mistake, he immediately returned them.
Missing for 14 Years
Although Mr. Sun was a simple, honest, and modest person, he could not escape being persecuted for his belief by the communist regime. To tell his own experience to officials, he went to appeal at the Hubei Provincial Office Compound on July 20, 1999. The police illegally arrested him as soon as he arrived and detained him for two weeks. Local police and company officials then harassed him many times, ordering him to turn in Falun Gong books and threatening to fire him. Mr. Sun had to give them several Falun Gong books. He felt very bad afterward and often wept quietly. His wife said she had never seen him so sad.
Mr. Sun went to Beijing again on September 19, 1999. He stayed for several days, but did not find any place to appeal because practitioners were being arrested at the center. After discussing with other practitioners, they agreed to meet again in Tiananmen Square on a certain day in October. This was the last time Mr. Sun was seen.
In the past 14 years, Mr. Sun's family haven't heard anything about him, not even one piece of information.
Family Broken
When Mr. Sun went to Beijing to appeal, his daughter was a middle school student. Through the years, both his wife and daughter have greatly missed him. He was a loving responsible husband and father. But the family now only has fond memories of him.
Mr. Sun's disappearance also added financial burden to the family. His wife used to work at an electrical machinery company. She later lost her job after the company went bankrupt. She and her daughter had great financial difficulties. She had to marry someone else just to survive.
This is only one of the many cases in which Falun Gong practitioners have gone missing after they went to appeal or told others about Falun Gong. These families have had to endure incalculable pain and sorrow.
