(Minghui.org) As Falun Gong practitioners continue spreading the facts of the persecution, many staff members and officials at the local level 610 Offices understand what the persecution is all about and do not make any effort to carry out orders to harass practitioners. Below are two such examples from eastern China. In the second, the local 610 Office paid for non-practitioners to attend the brainwashing session to fill the quota!
Police Harass the Informer
In a village in eastern China, practitioners regularly gather together to study the teachings of Falun Gong. One night, someone notified the local police that practitioners were gathering. After getting more than ten phone calls from the same informant, the police drove to the village.
However, instead of going to the practitioners' study group, they went to see the informant and said, “You want to earn some money by reporting this to us? Stop doing such a wicked thing!”
Practitioners Refuse to Attend a Brainwashing Session, Local Officials Back Off
This fall, the local 610 Office in the same area received orders from their superiors to send a certain number of Falun Gong practitioners to a brainwashing session. The agency officials decided to draw lots because no one wanted to do it.
A village was selected and the local CCP branch was notified to select the practitioners. The local CCP branch did not want to handle it, either, and decided to draw lots to decide which practitioners would be forced to attend.
Two practitioners in this particular village were chosen. The village CCP secretary went to inform the first practitioner, saying, “You were chosen to go to a brainwashing session.” The practitioner said, “I practice Falun Dafa to be a good person. Why do you keep harassing me? We are so busy now with the harvest, I do not have the time to go!” The practitioner was so adamant that the CCP secretary backed off.
The next day, the Party secretary went with several local police officers to the home of the second practitioner. They said, “We want to take you to a brainwashing center.”
The practitioner, who runs a supermarket, replied, “Brainwashing center? How much are you going to pay me? Even if you hire eight people to run my business, they won't be able to take care of my supermarket. You want me to go to a brainwashing session when I'm so busy? I don't have time!” The police officers stared at each other and knew that the practitioner would not go with them, so they left.
The Party secretary reported to the local 610 Office, saying, “Both of them refused to go. And not only did they refuse to go, they were very determined about it.”
The 610 Office responded, “Why not find two non-practitioners to fill the quota? We can pay 110 yuan per person per day.” The Party secretary then found two non-practitioners to go.
At first the two non-practitioners were happy to know that they would be paid for going to a "class," but after they got there, they discovered that it was a brainwashing session where Falun Gong was slandered.
The next day, they refused to go again. They told the village secretary, “Why do you want us to go? They are just wicked people talking nonsense. We won't go even if you do pay us!”
Finally, the local 610 Office found a mentally challenged woman in her 70s to fill the quota.
