(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Liying, 36 years old, is from Nanchi Village, Gengle Town, She County in Hebei Province. A team of plainclothes officers entered and ransacked her home without warrants at approximately 2 p.m. on June 21, 2011. They then took her to the She County Police Department and later, to the She County Detention Center. Two weeks later, Ms. Li was transferred to the Shijiazhuang Women's Forced Labor Camp. One year and seven months have passed since then.
On July 5, 2011, She County Police Department orally informed Ms. Li's husband that the duration of her detention in the forced labor camp was for a year and six months. However, that time has elapsed, yet officials have not released her. Ms. Li has two children-- a 15 year old and an 8 year old. As early as the children can remember, they've never enjoyed a peaceful day. She County Police Department, Gengle Town Police Station, and Nanchi Village Committee personnel harassed Ms. Li and her family countless times and extorted a significant amount of money from them. Ms. Li was arrested by She County Police Department and Tiecheng Sub-Police Department officers on August 23, 2011, and also during the 2008 Beijing Olympics period. She was held for nearly two months after each arrest. Her family was forced to pay bribes to the police departments in both cases, which was the requirement for her release. Ms. Li's husband could no longer bear the pressure of this most recent arrest. He went to the forced labor camp with She County Court personnel, and divorced Ms. Li shortly after May 1, 2012.
Ms. Li's parents are almost 70 years old. They have been frightened by the situation, especially this past month. They are eagerly awaiting Ms. Li's return and do not understand why she is still being held. During the past year and (now over) seven months, the forced labor camp has allowed the family to see Ms. Li only once, after the family pleaded repeatedly to see her. The family tried visiting her on several previous occasions, but labor camp officials always refused their requests. Ms. Li's mother gets carsick and therefore can't travel to the labor camp. She called the forced labor camp many times to inquire about Ms. Li's situation and condition. However, her calls were rejected, or the camp officials disconnected after she spoke a few sentences. She asked them why Ms. Li hadn't been released, and when they would release her, but the officials refused to respond.
