(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Lu Jun from Heilongjiang Province was illegally arrested on February 20, 2012, for receiving satellite signals to watch NTD Television programs. He was detained for six months before being sentenced to five years in prison. Mr. Lu was severely tortured in detention and is now held in Jiamusi Prison.

Mr. Lu was arrested in a residential area of Baoqing County by officers from the Baoqing County Domestic Security Division. The agents confiscated 7 sets of satellite signal-receiving equipment, 7000 yuan in cash, and other personal belongings. An elderly practitioner, Ms. Liu Junying, was also arrested at the same time. She was later sentenced to four years in prison and sent to Harbin Women's Prison.
After being arrested, Mr. Lu was severely tortured at the hands of officers led by Qiang Gang from the Baoqing County Domestic Security Division. Eighteen criminal inmates in the Baoqing County Detention Center took turns to physically abuse and torture him. To deepen his suffering, the perpetrators poured cold water over his head amid the freezing temperatures of winter.
Mr. Lu was taken out of the detention center many times to be interrogated. On one occasion, on March 19, Qiang Gang and others from the Baoqing County Domestic Security Division covered Mr. Lu's head with a hood and took him to a room inside a building, where there was a surveillance camera, a computer, a tiger bench and an iron triangle frame. The walls were covered with soundproofing foam boards. The officers tied Mr. Lu's hands behind his back, with a wooden stick inserted between them, and then placed him on the iron triangle frame. His body was suspended in the air, and his feet could not touch the floor.
Tortured this way for only 3 to 5 minutes, a person will sweat profusely due to the excruciating pain. Mr. Lu was tortured for 30 minutes before he was released. He was then hung up again. As a result, Mr. Lu lost control of his hands, and could no longer raise them.
Six months later, Mr. Lu was put on trial at the Baoqing County Court. Mr. Lu questioned the judge, “What crime is it to practice Falun Gong?” The judge was speechless and adjourned the trial four times.
In the end, Mr. Lu was given a five-year prison term. He was sent to Jiamusi Prison on August 28, 2012.
Since July 1999, when the communist regime began to persecute Falun Gong, Mr. Lu has been unlawfully arrested three times. Each time he was subjected to violent beatings and torture. On one occasion, police shocked him all over his body with three electric batons, until the batteries finally ran out.
