(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 9 cities or counties in 5 provinces. According to this report, 8 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during detention, and at least 2 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Baoding, Hebei Province] Mr. Zheng Xiangxing Severely Tortured in Baoding Prison
Mr. Zheng Xiangxing from Tanghai County, Hebei Province, was brutally tortured at the Baoding Prison on October 16, 2012, resulting in a fracture on the left side of his skull. His brain tissue was injured, causing internal bleeding in the brain. He was taken to the Baoding No. 1 Central Hospital for emergency treatment. Without informing his family, the hospital severed some of his brain nerves related to language, memory and vision.
Mr. Zheng is currently hospitalized in an intensive care unit. He is paralyzed and cannot leave his bed. Nevertheless, officers from the Baoding Prison recently put him in heavy shackles and claimed that they would bring him back to the prison.
2. [Qingan County, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Liu Zhongjie Has Brain Hemorrhage Due to Torture
Mr. Liu Zhongjie was arrested on September 10, 2012. On January 17, 2013, he fell into a coma as a result of being tortured in the Suihua Detention Center. He was sent to a hospital for emergency treatment and diagnosed with bleeding in the brain.
Mr. Liu was previously arrested and detained in forced labor camps many times for his belief in Falun Gong. He was also forced into homelessness and was destitute for almost 10 years prior to the most recent arrest.
3. [Chengde, Hebei Province] Ms. Ma Yuru, Ms. Wang Guilan and Ms. Wang Guifen Arrested
Ms. Ma Yuru, Ms. Wang Guilan and Ms. Wang Guifen from Shuangluan District, Chengde, were arrested by officers from the Hongqi Police Station on January 20, 2013, while they distributed informational materials about Falun Gong in Hongqi Township, Luanping County.
4. [Yinchuan, Ningxia] Ms. Zhang Xiaochun Sentenced to Five Years in Prison
Ms. Zhang Xiaochun, approximately 50 years old, was a pediatrician and vice dean of Haiyuan County Hospital in Ningxia. She was arrested in 2011 and detained in the Yinchuan Detention Center. She has been secretly sentenced to five years in prison. She is currently incarcerated in Yinchuan Women's Prison.
5. [Fengcheng, Liaoning Province] Ms. Dai Yuzhi Sentenced to One Year in Prison
Ms. Dai Yuzhi, in her 60s, went missing on May 28, 2012. Her husband went to the Fengcheng Domestic Security Division to inquire of her whereabouts. He was told that she had been sent to the Dandong Detention Center.
The Fengcheng Court illegally tried Ms. Dai and sentenced her to one year in prison on August 29, 2012. Ms. Dai is currently incarcerated in the Donggang Prison.
Ms. Dai was previously arrested by officers from the Fengcheng Domestic Security Division on July 13, 2010. The division sent her to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp for a two-year term. However, the forced labor camp refused to accept her because of her poor physical condition.
6. [Macheng, Hubei Province] Mr. Xiong Youyi Detained
Mr. Xiong Youyi has been detained since June 20, 2012. Police submitted fabricated evidence to the Huanggang Procuratorate in an attempt to put him on trial in Huanggang Court.

7. [Beijing] Ms. Tian Xiaozhi Detained
Ms. Tian Xiaozhi from Chaoyang District, 60, is a retired teacher. She was arrested on November 14, 2012. Several days later, the police informed her family to deliver money and clothes to the Chaoyang Detention Center, where Ms. Tian was held. Later on, she was transferred to Beijing No. 1 Detention Center. Her family has not been allowed to visit her until now.
In January 2008, Ms. Tian was sent to a forced labor camp for two years.
8. [Suining, Sichuan Province] Mr. Lu Zhongzheng's Whereabouts Unknown after Arrest
Mr. Lu Zhongzheng, a teacher from Suining Experimental High School, was arrested by police on July 9, 2011. The police also ransacked his home. His current whereabouts are unknown.
9. [Qixia, Shandong Province] Mr. Lin Guojun and Mr. Feng Yunxue Detained
The Laiyang Prison and Jinan Prison refused to accept Mr. Lin Guojun and Mr. Feng Yunxue on December 10, 2012. The two practitioners were then detained in the Qixia Detention Center for more than one month. The Qixia police sent them to Jinan Prison again on January 17, 2013, but the prison again refused to accept them. The two practitioners are still being detained at the Qixia Detention Center.

10. [Weifang, Shandong Province] Mr. Li Shulian Passed Away as a Result of Persecution
Mr. Li Shulian lived in Guojiashangtuan Village, Taerbao, Beimeng Town, Changyi, Weifang. He passed away on January 12, 2013, as a result of persecution.
Officers from the Taerbao Police Station broke into Mr. Li's home on December 25, 2012. They arrested 12 Falun Gong practitioners who were visiting his home, including his wife. Mr. Li was not arrested because he was severely ill.
11. [Wuhan, Hubei Province] Ms. Hong Guimei Detained
Ms. Hong Guimei, in her 60s, was reported to police while she distributed informational materials about Falun Gong at Wuhan Plaza at noon on January 19, 2013. She was arrested by officers from the Zhongzhan Police Station and sent to the Wuhan No. 1 Detention Center in Dongxihu District.
