(Minghui.org) In 2006, the Gansu Women's Prison set up a “Transformation" Division. All of the Falun Gong practitioners who were not "transformed" in other sections of the prison were transferred here for "special" treatment.
When the division was established, Zhu Hong was appointed director; Sun Liwei, associate director; Luo Yaqiong and Ding Haiyan, team leads. In 2012, a young guard whose surname is Guo was enrolled.
Practitioners were forced to watch programs defaming Falun Gong. The division drafted inmates serving heavy sentences from other divisions to specially monitor the practitioners. They cooperated with the guards and forced practitioners to follow their orders and write "thought reports." The inmates first reviewed the reports to see if their orders had been followed. If not, the inmates cursed and beat the practitioners and even tore up the reports and forced the practitioners to rewrite them until the inmates were satisfied. The practitioner then had to transcribe the report into a notebook and turn it in to the guard on the next day. Those who were "transformed" were sent to other divisions to do slave labor.
To keep what they were doing secret, the guards ordered the inmates to drag the practitioners into the bathroom to beat them. The practitioners were often beaten for a long time and their faces were black and blue. Later on, the guards ordered the inmates to target more inconspicuous areas. Although there were no obvious bruise on the practitioners' faces, bruises on their bodies were observed when they took showers.
In recent years, the prison transferred all practitioners to the "Transformation" Division and divided them into three cells. Video programs defaming Falun Gong were shown in a hall. A classroom was set up to write thought reports. Every morning from 8:30 a.m to 11:40 a.m., all the practitioners were gathered into the hall to watch the programs defaming Falun Dafa. In the afternoon and at night, the practitioners were forced to write thought reports. 23 inmates were assigned to monitor them, even following them to bathroom. The practitioners were not allowed to talk and had to report everything to the inmates. If they didn't obey, in milder cases, they were abused; in severe cases, they were brutally beaten.
The guards instigated the inmates to torture the practitioners at will. The newly-arrived practitioners could not see or talk each other. Even the time to use bathroom was limited. Some practitioners ended up wetting their pants or beds, but they were accused of doing it deliberately. The practitioners were only allowed to wash clothes on Saturdays. If they did not get permission before washing their clothes, they would be abused and beaten. The team leads of the “transformation" division appeared to be considerate and manage things humanely. However, in the darkness, they instigated the inmates to monitor the practitioners' every word and every action. If there was any deviation, the inmates would report it. The guards deceived the practitioners and said that a practitioner would not have to write thought reports after she was "transformed." In reality, if the practitioners were "transformed" or not, they were forced to write thought reports every day.
Since being appointed director, Zhu Hong has actively followed the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and viciously persecuted Falun Gong practitioners. He used done everything imaginable to defame Falun Dafa and actively cooperate with the media to fabricate evidence, filming the practitioners' responses under intense pressure against their will. The videotapes were played in other detention facilities to entice and force other practitioners to "transform" and to poison those who did not know the truth. He also went across the country to promote his expertise in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. In July 2012, he actively cooperated with the specialist team, which was specially established by the CCP to "transform" Falun Gong practitioners, and went to Gongjiawan Brainwashing Center to observe the "transforming" of Falun Gong practitioners.
Currently, 25 practitioners are being detained in the “transformation" division, including Ms. Ma Jun (from Lanzhou), Ms. Zhang Caiqin (from Gangu), Ms. Zhang Xiaoming, Ms. Zhao Yuhua, Ms. Zhang Xuelian, Ms. Cui Guilian, Ms. Wang Hui, Ms. Li Caiyun, Ms. Wang Ruizhi, Ms. Wan Ruiling (from Lanzhou), Ms. Zhang Furong, Ms. Ma Yuling, Ms. Li Xiulan (from Lanzhou), Ms. Jin Jumei (from Lanzhou), Ms. Yue Dingxiang, Ms. Li Qiaolian (from Baiyin), Ms. Du Guifang (from Wuwei), Ms. Li Ya, Ms. Ren Fengqin, Ms. He Xiufang (from Longxi), and Ms. Bai Xianglan.
In 2011, the prison transferred about 200 female inmates from Shandong Prison. The prison selected Yuan Ziting and several other inmates to go to the "transformation" division to monitor Falun Gong practitioners. Yuan Ziting, about 40, is very vicious. When she watched Ms. Wang Ruiling from Lanzhou, she ordered her to recite the Three-character Scripture. Ms. Wang could not do it, so Yuan Ziting hung her upside down and brutally beat her. Ms. Wang, in her 60s, was hardly recognizable afterwards, but the guards pretended to see nothing.
Ms. Ma Jun was transferred to the division from the fourth division because she did not "transform." Mei Ju was in charge of watching her. At first, Zhu Hong enticed and deceived Ms. Ma hypocritically. A few days later when Zhu Hong was unsuccessful, he ordered Mei Ju to force Ms. Ma to write thought reports every day. If she didn't write what they wanted, Zhu Hong just ordered the inmates to abuse and beat her. Ms. Ma was often black and blue. Mei Ju also deliberately hit her head.
Xian Deying monitored Ms. He Xiufang. She only gave Ms. He one cup of hot water every day. One day when Ms. He did not greet to her at mealtime, she dragged Ms. He to the bathroom, forcing her to say “Xian Deying, I wanted to eat” 500 times while holding her bowl. Another day, for no known reason, Ms. He did not do what Xian Deying wanted. Xian Deying forced her to slap herself on the face in public in the lobby. When Xian Deying watched Ms. Du Guifang, she did not allow Ms. Du to buy a chamber pot. Ms. Du had to pee on her underwear secretly at night and wait to wash the underwear on Saturday.
Yan Feng said, “When I watched Zhao Changju, I would put her head in a trash can if she did not do what I said. I did that until she obeyed. When I watched Wei Zhouxiang, I did all kinds of things. I watched practitioners for four years.” When she watched Ms. Li Xia, she beat her until she almost lost her hearing
When Yang Xiaoling watched Ms. Zhang Qiaoming, she brutally beat her. Ms. Zhang's face was often bruised. However, the guards pretended to see nothing. When Yuan Xueying watched Ms. Zhang Caiqin, Ms. Zhang often had bruises all over, but they were hidden under her clothes.
Lai Xiaoyan often slapped Ms. Jin Jumei on the face. She often dragged her into a small room to hit and kick her. Ms. Jin's gums bled, but Lai Xiaoyan did not allow her to tell anyone.
Ma Yaqin is serving time for financial crimes. She worked in Lanzhou Telecommunications Bureau and was sentenced to 15 years in prison. In order to get her term reduced, she actively fawned over the guards and viciously persecuted Falun Gong practitioners. She was assigned to the "transformation" division to persecute practitioners for more than four years. She abused and beat many practitioners, including Ms. Zhang Xuelian, Ms. Li Caiyun, Ms. Jin Yanping, Ms. Zhang Caiqin, and Ms. Wu Yinfeng.
