(Minghui.org) Mr. Gong Guixin from Panjin City in Liaoning Province was arrested by officers from the Panjin Domestic Security Division at the restaurant he owns on the morning of April 15, 2012. He was then taken to Panjin Detention Center. His family and friends tried to get him released by talking to the police, but were told, “Cases for Falun Gong practitioners never follow the legal process.”
Mr. Gong's elder sister and two of his employees were arrested along with him, and his restaurant was ransacked at the same time. In order to protect his sister and the employees, Mr. Gong told the police that everything in the restaurant belonged to him, and then asked the police to release them.
Mr. Gong has had his own restaurant for over a decade, and runs his business according to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. His neighbors consider him to be very kind and honest. When the police had finished searching the restaurant, many things were either broken or damaged, and the restaurant was left in a total mess. A month after Mr. Gong's arrest, his sister sold the restaurant.
Officials from Xinglongtai District Court held a trial for Mr. Gong on October 17, 2012. A lawyer from Beijing represented him and entered a plea of “not guilty.” Mr. Gong said to the court: “I do things according to Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance, and don't harm anyone. What crime have I committed?”
