(Minghui.org) On December 25, 2012, when Falun Gong practitioners from Changyi City went to Mr. Li Shulian's home to study the Fa, they were reported by Guo Zengxing, the Secretary of the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) Committee of Shangtong Village. Changyi City 610 Office personnel and police from the Beimeng Township Police Station arrested them and took them to the police station.
Mr. Li Shulian's home was ransacked. Among other personal property confiscated were several Falun Dafa books, portraits of Mr. Li Hongzhi, a DVD player, several DVDs, a Hi-Fi player, an MP3 player, a jade bracelet, a silver hairpin, cash, rare antique currency passed down from his ancestors, a pair of Mr. Li's nice leather shoes, and state-wide food certificates. Another practitioner's electric bike was also taken.
At the Beimeng Police Station, Ms. Li Jinmei shouted, "Falun Dafa is wonderful!" For that, a policeman hit her on her chest. Twelve other practitioners were taken away during the illegal arrest: Ms. Guo Wenshan, Ms. Fan Xiufang, Ms. Zhou Qin, Ms. Yin Guimei, Ms. Zhao Yumei, Mr. Yang Xianhui, Ms. Guo Changlan, Ms. Hao Lan, Mr. Guo Xianzong, Ms. Chen Sufang, and Ms. Guo Lianjun.
Nine were released the evening of December 25, but Ms. Chen Sufang, Ms. Zhang Meijin, and Ms. Guo Lianjun were held at the Changyi City Detention Center by the Changyi 610 Office.
On December 27, the authorities attempted to detain three practitioners at the Changyi Detention Center, but they were rejected as they failed to pass the medical examination. The practitioners were then taken to the Weifang Detention Center. As they were being taken to their medical examinations, Ms. Zhang and Ms. Chen shouted, "Falun Dafa is wonderful!" In retaliation, police officer Cao Shuwen pulled their hair and punched them in the head. This abuse prevented them from being examined and they were sent back to Changyi City Detention Center and held for 15 days. Ms. Guo was held for a month.
While Ms. Zhang and Ms. Chen were in detention, a doctor employed by the detention center slapped their faces and stuffed their mouths with pieces of clothing. Even though the room was -16 C°, officials turned on the air conditioning to make the room colder. Not until the practitioners protested several times did the police officers turn on the heat. Ms. Zhang and Ms. Su staged a hunger strike for five days to protest the unlawful detention. Finally, on January 3, 2013, they were released and their families took them home. Their family members were required to pay 450 yuan for food while the practitioners were in detention.
This recent round of persecution has caused great suffering to practitioners as well as their families.
